🚑 Telehealth & EMS Research Program Participation 🚑

Today, CAFD personnel are participating in Telehealth Go Live training as we prepare to launch a new 4.5-year Telehealth & EMS Research Program. CAFD was selected to participate through a grant awarded to the Arrowhead EMS Association. This program provides our ambulances with real-time access to physicians through secure audio, video, and tablet technology provided at no cost through the grant.

During critical emergencies, EMS crews will be able to consult directly with physicians, share EKG data, receive immediate medical guidance, and provide faster, more informed patient care.

The University of Minnesota will collect and analyze program data throughout the study to evaluate response efficiency, physician utilization, and patient care outcomes.

This innovative partnership will help reduce delays in physician consultation and give our crews another valuable resource when seconds matter most. ❤️🚑👨‍⚕️‍⚕️

🚒 Help Us Honor Two Fallen Firefighters 🚒

As we prepare to open our new station, we will be recognizing fallen firefighters, including Hjalmer Anderson and Fred Oberg, with a memorial plaque.

We are asking for the public's help in locating any family members or relatives of Hjalmer Anderson or Fred Oberg. If you have information or know how we can contact their family, please reach out to the CAFD.

CAFD Station 1 responded to a laundry Fire at a hotel in Cloquet this afternoon that was reported by the maintenance person on site. Arriving units found smoldering towels in a dryer and significant smoke throughout the first and second floor in the hallways. Positive pressure fans were set up to clear the smoke and occupants were evacuated for their safety.

🎃👻 Happy Halloween from the CAFD! 👻🎃

⚠️ Remember to stay visible while trick-or-treating, watch for traffic, and dress warmly for the typical MN weather. ⚠️

Don't forget to stop by Station 1 for candy starting at 5:30 PM!

🎃 CAFD Halloween Safety Tips! 🎃

Halloween is right around the corner, and we know the only thing many kids will want to eat this weekend is CANDY! 🍭🍫 To help everyone have a fun and safe night, keep these tips in mind:

👻 Avoid costumes with long trailing fabric that could become a tripping or fire hazard.

🎭 Make sure masks fit properly and that children can clearly see through the eye openings.

🔦 Use flashlights, glow sticks, and reflective gear to help keep your little ones visible.

🕯️ Keep decorations away from open flames, light bulbs, and heaters.

🚨 Test your smoke alarms and keep all exits clear of decorations.

🧥 Dress for the weather and bundle up for a chilly Minnesota Halloween!

🚓🚒📞 National First Responders Day 📞🚒🚓

Today, we recognize and thank all first responders who work tirelessly to keep our communities safe.

We are incredibly grateful for our partnerships with law enforcement and our 911 dispatchers, whose support, coordination, and critical information help keep our staff safe and prepared before we even arrive on scene.

We also want to recognize the dedicated members of the Cloquet Area Fire District. Thank you for your commitment, professionalism, and unwavering dedication to providing the highest level of service to the communities we serve.

Office furniture and dorm room furnishings are being delivered. Turnout gear lockers are being installed, the apparatus bays have been painted, and this new facility is starting to look like a Station! A huge amount of planning has gone into every detail of this facility, and it is really exciting to see it all come together.

🚒🩺 New Life-Saving Rescue Equipment 🩺🚒

The CAFD is excited to share the addition of two specialized rescue stretchers thanks to a grant secured by Safety & Training Officer Pulford through Minnesota Energy Resources!

✅ SKED Stretcher - A compact and versatile rescue device designed to safely package and move patients in confined spaces, technical rope rescues, and other difficult-to-access environments.

✅ KOBUS Rollup Stretcher - Combines compact storage with the support and protection of a traditional basket stretcher, providing added patient stability during confined space, technical, and high-angle rescue operations.

These tools give our responders more options to safely and effectively care for patients in a wide variety of emergency situations. Whatever scenario they are presented with, having the right equipment can make all the difference.

👏 A huge THANK YOU to Minnesota Energy Resources for helping us enhance our rescue capabilities and better serve our community. Your support helps ensure our crews have the equipment they need when lives are on the line.
