The estimated average annual cost to the taxpayer on the proposed levy is a tax of $110 per $100,000 of taxable assessed value, per year, based on current conditions. The proposed levy replaces an existing levy that expires on June 30, 2027, and that currently costs $91 per $100,000 of taxable assessed value. Therefore, if the proposed levy is approved, the tax per $100,000 of taxable assessed value, per year, is expected to increase by $19 per $100,000 of taxable assessed value.

Dalton Elementary School fourth- and fifth-graders grabbed their rakes and marched into the neighborhood this afternoon to help some of their neighbors with fall yard cleanup.

Students spent the afternoon raking leaves, filling bags and lending a helping hand to residents along Mount Carroll Street.

Nice work, Dalton students! Thanks for showing what it means to be a good neighbor!

Former NASA astronaut and retired U.S. Navy Captain Scott Kelly, who spent a record-breaking 340 days aboard the International Space Station, encouraged over 400 students to challenge themselves and to reach for the stars.

An elementary school student asked Kelly which was his favorite planet in the solar system and he said, "This one. Earth."

Kelly spoke for about an hour at Coeur d'Alene High School Thursday morning and answered student questions about his path to becoming an astronaut, living in space and the future of space travel.

Kelly's presentation was a result of a partnership with the Idaho Humanities Council and Coeur d’Alene Public Schools.

Kelly completed four space missions during his NASA career, including a 1999 mission aboard Space Shuttle Discovery to service the Hubble Space Telescope. He later commanded the International Space Station and spent nearly a year in orbit during a groundbreaking mission in 2015.

We understand that rising property taxes and everyday costs are important concerns for our community. We take our responsibility to manage district finances carefully and responsibly very seriously.

Coeur d’Alene Public Schools’ tax rate has declined each year since 2017. The 2026 rate is approximately 56% lower than in 2021 and 71% lower than its 2015 peak. Note: The rates shown in the table are the actual school levy tax rates property owners inside the district boundary have paid, or are paying, after property tax relief from the state is applied.

To find out what your school levy tax would be, visit cdaschools.org/levy/page/levy-calculator to use our Levy Tax Calculator.
