Crime Alert – Stalking

Campus crime alerts and timely warnings to the community comply with the Federal Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act (Clery Act).

On October 23, 2026, the Texas A&M University Police Department (UPD) received information from a Campus Security Authority (CSA) about a Stalking incident on campus.

The victim reported multiple unwelcome interactions with the suspect beginning in August 2026. It has been reported that the suspect is following and watching the victim through windows at their off campus residence, following the victim to class, and the suspect is sitting in a class that he is not registered for. The suspect has ignored the requests from friends and local law enforcement to leave the victim and others alone.

The suspect's identity is known. The suspect is described as a 23-year-old white male, 5 feet 8 inches tall, 165 lbs., with brown hair and brown eyes. The appropriate department is actively investigating multiple incidents involving this suspect. No further information will be released at this time.

Anyone with information about this or other incidents is encouraged to contact the Texas A&M University Police Department at 979-845-2345.

While a university is required under the Clery Act to notify the public of such reports, it is also our responsibility to provide information regarding protective measures.

All are encouraged to:

Stay alert and be aware of your surroundings.
Trust your instincts.
Be cautious of individuals who do not respect personal boundaries or repeated requests not to contact.
Report suspicious activity or unwanted contact to the police immediately.
Document the stalking behaviors, even if you are unsure about reporting to the police.
Stay with a group and avoid secluded areas.

Public Safety Advisory- TAMU PD Phone Number Spoofing Scam

The Texas A&M University Police Department has received multiple reports of individuals again calling members of the university community and falsely claiming to be AVP & Chief of Police Johnson or other department personnel. This activity also occurred last Wednesday, which we posted about on our social media channels. Similar incidents have also recently been reported by other departments and University agencies.

In these cases, the scammers are manipulating caller ID information so the incoming call appears to come from our legitimate law enforcement telephone number: (979-845-2345).

Do not rely on caller ID alone to verify that a call is legitimate.

Texas A&M University Police officers may contact members of the community as part of an investigation or other police matter. However, neither AVP & Chief of Police Johnson nor UPD officers will call and demand payment for a citation, warrant, or any other law enforcement matter over the phone.

If you receive a call from someone claiming to be AVP & Chief of Police Johnson or a Texas A&M University Police officer and you are unsure whether the call is legitimate:

Do not provide financial, banking, or other sensitive personal information.

Do not make a payment or transfer money at the caller's direction.

If they ask for financial information, end the call and report it.

Contact UPD Communications directly at 979-845-2345. Communications personnel are available 24 hours a day and can help verify whether the person contacting you is affiliated with the department.

Report suspicious calls to the Texas A&M University Police Department. An officer will meet you on campus or contact you to take an official police report.

Scammers often attempt to create a sense of urgency or fear to pressure individuals into acting before they have time to verify the situation. Take the extra minute to verify the call before providing information or taking any action. We don’t mind the call.

Anyone with information about this crime or other incidents is encouraged to contact the Texas A&M University Police Department at 979-845-2345.

Crime Alert – Theft of Motor Vehicle

Campus crime alerts and timely warnings to the community comply with the federal Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act (Clery Act).

On October 13, 2026, the Texas A&M University Police Department (UPD) received a report of the theft of a golf cart. The victim stated that a white 2021 Tempo six-passenger golf cart, marked with the number 27 and having a brown interior, was parked outside the Gilchrist Building on October 11, 2026, at approximately 2:00 PM. The keys were left inside the golf cart. On October 12, 2026, at approximately 12:00 PM, the owner returned to the vehicle and discovered it was missing.

The golf cart was recovered on October 13, 2026, at approximately 10:15 AM, in Parking Lot 62 on Texas A&M University property. The keys to the golf cart are still missing.

Anyone having information pertaining to this crime or other incidents is encouraged to contact the Texas A&M University Police Department at 979-845-2345.

While universities are required under the Clery Act to notify the public of such reports, it is also our responsibility to provide information regarding personal protective measures.

Anti-Theft Suggestions:

Park vehicles and golf carts in well-lit, high-density, conspicuous areas that are in view of security cameras.

Do not leave keys in a golf cart or other vehicle.

Remove the keys and secure them whenever the vehicle is unattended, even for a short period.

Do not hide keys inside the vehicle. Thieves know to look in popular hiding places.

Use additional security mechanisms if there is damage to a device, enabling it to be more easily tampered with.

Consider installing an audible alarm system or anti-theft device.
Consider attaching a GPS tracker.

Report suspicious activity immediately.

The safety of our community does not have borders. It is the goal of every law enforcement agency to protect the citizens that we serve. Be the eyes and ears of your police department. When you see suspicious activity, contact the Texas A&M University Police Department at 979-845-2345, the College Station Police Department at 979-764-3600, or the Bryan Police Department and the Brazos County Sheriff’s Office at 979-361-3888. TODAY'S FIRST RESPONDER SPOTLIGHT: Charles Durr III with the Texas A&M University Police Department

He was nominated by his father. Here’s what dad had to say:

"Charles is an Aggie Grad (16) and Corps member. He has shown remarkable performance as a law enforcement professional, educating and assisting students on preventative law matters - and keeping countless students out of trouble. Strongly principled in faith, family, fatherhood, and fitness.

He goes above and beyond the call of duty for his family, the UPD, and Texas A&M. His example of selfless service and giving back inspires others to do the same. He is worthy of this recognition."

We love celebrating the people who show up for our community when it matters most. Congratulations, Charles, and thank you for everything you do!

A little Aggie connection away from Aggieland. 👍

On Tuesday, Chief Johnson and members of our Community Services Unit traveled to New Braunfels to visit with the Comal County Aggie Moms at their monthly meeting.

We had a great conversations about the department, the services and resources available on campus, and how we work to keep students safe. We appreciated the opportunity to share what drives our department and how we’re here to support students, even when the help they need goes beyond law enforcement.

Thank you to the Comal County Aggie Moms Club for the invitation, the questions, and the warm welcome. We always enjoy getting to spend time with the people who care so much about their Aggies.

Thanks & Gig ’Em!
