At 1:07 AM, Colorado City Dispatch received a 911 phone call regarding two vehicles on fire at a residence in the 900 Block of East 16th Street. An off-duty Colorado City Police Officer, who is also a volunteer firefighter, was the first to respond. He was able to report the fire over the radio, evacuate the residence, and ensure the safety of the scene and all citizens.

The Colorado City Fire Department responded and determined there was a third vehicle on fire as well in the driveway parked next to the residence. Colorado City Volunteer Firefighters and the Colorado City Fire Marshall extinguished all three vehicle fires. Through their efforts, firefighters were able to prevent the fire from spreading and successfully saved the residence and nearby residences from further damage. We also want to thank the Loraine and Westbrook Volunteer Fire Departments for their response to assist.

Colorado City Police Officers were on scene and during their investigation determined that the fires to the vehicles were set intentionally. Officers utilized LPR technology to track the suspect’s vehicle and contacted the Weatherford Police Department to advise that the suspect vehicle was nearing their city.

Officers obtained an arrest warrant for the suspect, and Officers with the Weatherford Police Department were able to locate the vehicle. A traffic stop was conducted, and the suspect was then taken into custody at approximately 4:00 AM.

This incident highlights the importance of interagency cooperation. The coordinated efforts of the Colorado City Police Department, Colorado City Fire Department, and Weatherford Police Department helped bring the incident to a successful resolution while protecting the lives and property of our community.

The Colorado City Police Department wants to assure those in our community that this was an isolated incident targeting an individual and there is not a threat to the public.

The Colorado City Police Department appreciates the dedication of the Colorado City Fire Department and the assistance of the Weatherford Police Department.

Today, the Colorado City Police Department recognizes World Mental Health Day and reminds our community that mental health matters.

Life can bring challenges that aren’t always visible. Whether you’re struggling with stress, anxiety, depression, grief, or simply feeling overwhelmed, please remember that you are not alone, and it is okay to not be okay.

As a community, we can make a difference by:
💚 Checking in on family, friends, and neighbors.
💚 Listening without judgment.
💚 Breaking the stigma surrounding mental health.
💚 Encouraging others to seek support when they need it.
💚 Remembering that asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness.

Mental health affects everyone, and no one should feel they have to face their struggles alone. Let’s continue to build a community where compassion, understanding, and support come first.

From all of us at the Colorado City Police Department, please take care of yourselves and one another. You matter. Your mental health matters. And you are never alone. 💚
