South Carolina's prosperity has always been shaped by how we manage, protect, and utilize our natural resources.
Day Three of Leadership South Carolina's CO27 Session Two explored the intersection of conservation, history, and public infrastructure that continues to influence our state's future.
Participants began the day learning about the history and science of prescribed burns, gaining insight into how intentional land management practices help promote healthy forests, reduce wildfire risk, and preserve South Carolina's natural landscapes. The discussion offered a powerful reminder that sometimes stewardship requires action, planning, and a long term perspective.
The class also engaged in a conversation with Santee Cooper, exploring the critical role energy infrastructure plays in supporting economic development, serving communities, and meeting the evolving needs of a growing state. The session highlighted both the opportunities and responsibilities that come with managing essential public resources.
As Session Two continued, the Class of 2027 challenged themselves to think more broadly about leadership, recognizing that many of South Carolina's most important decisions involve balancing environmental stewardship, economic growth, and the needs of future generations.
Thank you to our presenters and partners for helping the class gain a deeper understanding of the resources, systems, and strategies that help power South Carolina's success.
Countdown is on for Session Three!
