Costumes, Candy and Common Sense… LET’S KEEP IT SAFE! 👻🎃

Halloween is all about costumes, candy, and making memories! But before the ghosts and goblins hit the streets, let’s take a few minutes to make sure everyone has a safe and fun Halloween!

🧛 FOR PARENTS & LITTLE GOBLINS:

* Always accompany young children while trick-or-treating.
* Use sidewalks and crosswalks whenever possible. Look both ways before crossing!
* Carry a flashlight or glow stick and wear reflective clothing.
* Make sure costumes fit properly and don’t drag on the ground or block vision.
* Stick to familiar, well-lit neighborhoods and never enter a stranger’s home.
* Keep phones handy and make sure children know what to do if they get separated.

🚗 FOR DRIVERS:

* SLOW DOWN in residential neighborhoods.
* Watch carefully for children crossing streets, especially between parked vehicles.
* Avoid distractions and keep your eyes on the road.
* Be extra cautious during evening hours when visibility is limited.

🍻 FOR THE ADULTS:

* If your Halloween plans include alcohol, plan ahead for a sober ride.
* Never drink and drive. No costume is worth a DUI!
* Keep an eye on your surroundings and look out for friends.

🦇 A LITTLE EXTRA HALLOWEEN REMINDER:
Driveway to driveway, street to street, and house to house — let’s all look out for one another!

From all of us at the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office, we hope everyone has a BOO-tiful Halloween filled with fun, laughter, and LOTS of candy!

Have fun, be safe, and don’t let Halloween turn into a real-life horror story! 🎃👮‍♂️

Today, October 31, marks the anniversary of the End of Watch of Crisp County Sheriff’s Office Corporal Avery Hillman.

Although the years pass, the loss of Corporal Hillman is never forgotten. His service, sacrifice, and the impact he made on those around him will forever remain a part of the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office family.

This year, Sheriff Billy Hancock had the special honor of sharing a moment on the football field with Avery’s son, Maleakhi, during Senior Night. Moments like these are a reminder that while we honor the badge and the sacrifice, we must also remember the families who continue to carry that loss.

To Maleakhi and the entire Hillman family, please know that you are remembered, supported, and always a part of our CCSO family.

Today, and every day, we honor Corporal Avery Hillman.

Gone, but never forgotten. 💙🖤

🎃👻 A little Halloween fun with some of our favorite little faces!

Our Pre-K friends had a spooktacular time at their Trunk or Treat! We loved getting to see all the creative costumes, big smiles, and little trick-or-treaters enjoying the festivities.

Building relationships with our youngest community members is one of the sweetest parts of what we do! ❤️💙

Deputy Involved in Vehicle Accident

This afternoon, a Crisp County Sheriff’s Office deputy was responding to a structure fire while traveling south on Highway 41 with emergency equipment, including lights and siren, activated.

As the deputy attempted to pass vehicles, another vehicle attempted to turn left into a private driveway. The deputy attempted to avoid the collision but struck the vehicle, causing his patrol vehicle to leave the roadway and overturn.

The deputy was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. The occupants of the other vehicle also sustained minor injuries.

Please keep everyone involved in your thoughts as they recover. We are thankful that the injuries were not more serious.

HAPPY NATIONAL FIRST RESPONDERS DAY! 💙

When emergencies happen, they run toward the call while others are running away. They work holidays, miss family moments, face the unexpected, and carry the weight of some of the hardest days in other people’s lives.

From deputies patrolling our streets and firefighters battling flames to EMS personnel providing lifesaving care and 911 dispatchers answering calls for help behind the scenes, our first responders are always ready to serve.

Today, the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office honors and thanks the men and women who answer the call, stand ready in times of crisis, and dedicate themselves to protecting and serving our communities.

To every first responder in Crisp County and beyond: We see you. We appreciate you. We thank you for what you do, even when no one is watching.

💙 Thank you for answering the call. Your service matters, your sacrifices matter, and you matter.

💙

Sheriff Billy Hancock was proud to present the Crisp County Cougars and Crisp Academy Wildcats softball teams with pink ribbon softballs in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

During his time with the teams, Sheriff Hancock encouraged the players to always work toward something bigger than themselves. He challenged them to find a cause they believe in and make a difference. It may be breast cancer awareness, or it may be another cause close to their hearts. Whatever it is, he reminded them of the importance of standing for something, giving back, and using their voices and talents to make a positive impact.

These pink softballs are a reminder that the fight against breast cancer reaches far beyond the field. It touches our families, our friends, our teammates, and our community. We stand with those currently fighting, celebrate survivors, and honor those we have lost.

To our Cougars and Wildcats — play with heart, and remember that you have the power to make a difference both on and off the field!

The teams autographed a ball for Sheriff Hancock to keep. 🩷

❤️ RED RIBBON WEEK KICKOFF | CORDELE & CRISP COUNTY ❤️

Today, Sheriff Billy Hancock had the opportunity to speak with students at Crisp County Middle School and Crisp Academy as we kicked off Red Ribbon Week in Cordele and Crisp County!

Red Ribbon Week is more than wearing red or participating in school activities. It’s about raising awareness, making healthy choices, and reminding our young people that their decisions today can shape their future tomorrow.

Sheriff Hancock shared some important reminders with students:

🔴 You don’t have to follow the crowd. Be confident enough to make your own decisions, even when others are choosing a different path.

🔴 Your choices have consequences. Think before you act and remember that the decisions you make matter.

🔴 Be careful what you see and hear. Not everything you see online or hear from others is true, safe, or in your best interest.

🔴 You are NEVER alone. If you’re struggling, feeling pressured, or facing a difficult situation, there are people who care about you and want to help.

Our message to the students is simple: Be confident. Be informed. Make good choices. And never be afraid to stand up for what is right.

Let’s work together to encourage our youth to live drug-free, make positive choices, and build a brighter future for themselves and our community.
