Drivers:
- Slow down and follow all traffic signs and signals
- Use extra caution at night
- Be alert for pedestrians on streets/in crosswalks
- Put down phones
- Wear seatbelts; child passengers should be in appropriate safety seats
- Do not park in No Parking Zones
- Never pass vehicles stopped at a crosswalk
Pedestrians:
- Cross streets at crosswalks or corners. Look both ways.
- Watch for cars entering or exiting driveways or backing up
- Children under 10 should not be allowed to cross the street alone
- Don’t just follow the crowd — check for yourself and only cross when it’s safe
- Some drivers may be distracted - do not step into the roadway until the driver has stopped
Trick-or-Treating:
- Trick-or-treaters need to be easily visible and able to see clearly. Avoid costumes with long, trailing fabric.
- Carry a light or glow stick. Add reflective tape to costumes and treat bags. Watch for traffic and cross streets at the corners or crosswalks.
- In neighborhoods, look for homes with porch lights on. Accept treats at the door, and never enter a stranger's home.
- Adults: inspect all treats before they are eaten. Remove loose candy, discard opened packages.
