The Heart of Virginia Beekeepers annual Fun Honey-Tasting on Tuesday, November 3rd will begin at 6:30 pm, check-in time for entries, at the Prince Edward County Extension Office (100 Dominion Dr., Farmville, VA 23901) near Lowe's and Harbor Freight. The meeting itself will begin at 7 pm.

The competition is open to all who have extracted honey from their own bees in 2026. The club will provide plastic squeeze bottles for you to put your honey into. If you don't have any honey, come to taste and vote. No spoons will be going from jar to jar, since the honey is squeezed out onto your spoon, but please bring your own hand-sanitizer.

Anyone who has bees or is interested in bees is welcome. For more information please call Mary Jane Morgan at 434-315-1433 or visit the Forum on Facebook or our website at heartofvirginiabeekeepers.org.

Fall is a great time to get your soil tested! 📣 Submitting a sample now means a shorter wait time for your results and you have time to apply lime, which takes months to effectively adjust your soil pH. If you've submitted a sample before, note that there have been recent changes to the submission process. We now have an online portal where you will submit forms and get your results!

Read more about those changes and learn how to submit a sample here: https://www.pubs.ext.vt.edu/articles/2026/soil-testing-laboratory-launches-new-online-management-system.html
