PUBLIC HELP NEEDED FOR INVESTIGATION INTO THEFT FROM MONTOUR PRESERVE

The Montour Area Recreation Commission (MARC) is seeking the public’s help to identify one or more individuals responsible for a break-in and theft of copper pipes from the Montour Preserve’s Heron Cove restroom building.

The incident is believed to have occurred in the overnight hours of Thursday, September 3, or Friday, September 4. One or more individuals made entry into the building’s utility room and then cut and stole the copper pipes from within the building.

As a result of this incident, the Heron Cove restroom building is closed to all use until repairs can be made. Additionally, water service to the Heron Cove A and Heron Cove B Pavilions will be unavailable. Porta-potties and a hand-washing station have been placed at the restroom building.

Anyone who may have been fishing at the Heron Cove Boat Launch area in the overnight hours of Thursday, September 3, or Friday, September 4, or who may have been driving along Sportsmans Road and seen anything out of the ordinary, is asked to contact Bob Stoudt, MARC Director, at (570) 336-2060 or [email protected].

Can you travel without a car where you live?

Help improve the future of walking, biking and rolling in our region!!!

The SEDA-COG Metropolitan Planning Organization is looking to identify opportunities for safer, more connected, and accessible
transportation options throughout Clinton, Columbia, Juniata, Mifflin, Montour, Northumberland, Snyder and Union counties.

With an easy-to-use mapping tool, you can pinpoint specific locations and provide comments directly on the map: bit.ly/SEDAATP

WE WANT TO HEAR ABOUT:
Needed sidewalks, trails, or bike lanes
Hazardous crossings or intersections
Accessibility barriers
Maintenance concerns with existing infrastructure
Places where walking, biking, or access to transit could be improved
Opportunities for new connections and safer routes

The survey is open until Sept. 14, 2026. Go to bit.ly/SEDAATP and tell us about the active transportation needs and opportunities that matter most to you!!!
