Daytona Beach Police Department Law enforcement agency for the City of Daytona Beach, Florida. https://linktr.ee/DBPD It is not the police department’s intent for posts to be public forums.

The Daytona Beach Police Department’s social media sites are primarily tools to share information with citizens. We do not view these sites as a way to communicate directly with elected officials or police department personnel. To reduce messages containing hatred, conflict, solicitation, misleading and false information, spam and dangerous behaviors, the police department has decided to turn off the comment function on its Facebook, Twitter and Instagram posts. The default setting on future posts will be to disallow comments. The public, when viewing a post on Facebook, will see the following message: “Daytona Beach Police Department limited who can comment on this post.”

The limitation is that only the Daytona Beach Police Department can make comments. Unfortunately, Facebook does not allow for a more straightforward message to display automatically. On Instagram and Twitter, the comment function is disabled without a clarifying message. From time to time, the Daytona Beach Police Department may post content to solicit feedback or to poll residents on specific topics. In these cases, comments may be enabled.

🎃 This Halloween, don’t leave your candy behind! 🍬
Parents, as you take your children out to enjoy this year’s Halloween festivities, remember to review these important safety tips before heading out:
🚸 Look before you cross. Teach your children to make eye contact with drivers and wait for them to stop before crossing the street.
🌟 Wear reflective clothing. Not every street or sidewalk is well-lit at night. Help your child stay visible to drivers by incorporating reflective materials into their costume.
👟 Choose a safe costume. Make sure your child’s costume fits comfortably and doesn’t drag on the ground or create a tripping hazard. If it could cause a fall, it’s time for Plan B!
👨‍👩‍👧 Stay together. Remind your children to stay within sight of their parent or guardian throughout the night.
Have a fun and safe Halloween, Daytona Beach! 🎃👻🚔

After a three-day trial, a Volusia County jury found defendant Anthony Kaznakoff guilty as charged of two counts of Attempted Second-Degree Murder with a Fi***rm.

On June 20, 2025, Kaznakoff was drinking at a sports bar in Daytona Beach when he became belligerent and was escorted out.

The defendant later returned to the bar’s entrance looking for a person he claimed had insulted him. After being asked to leave again, Kaznakoff walked away, then turned and fired 17 rounds from a handgun toward the entrance.

Three people were shot and taken to the hospital for treatment.

Kaznakoff drove away from the scene but was quickly identified by police. With help from his family, he ultimately turned himself in.

Sometimes, saving a life starts with simply listening. 💙
In this body-worn camera footage, Daytona Beach Police officers and Volusia County Sheriff’s deputies work together to help a man experiencing a mental health crisis on a bridge. Through patience, communication, and compassion, they were able to get him to safety.

Mental health struggles aren’t always visible, and you never know what someone may be going through. Check on your people. Listen without judgment. Remind someone they’re not alone.

There is help. There is hope. Every life matters.

If you or someone you know is struggling, call or text 988 for the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline, available 24/7. 💙
