South Dakota 4-H is seeking volunteers, industry supporters and 4-H members to serve on our statewide project committees.

Whether you are a 4-H alumni looking to get involved again or have a special interest in a 4-H project area and want to support youth development, there are opportunities to serve and work along side others with a shared interests. These committees cover a range of interests from traditional animal projects and youth-in-action events to the shooting sports and outdoor education programs.

The 2026 South Dakota State Fair may be complete, but they are already thinking about the future!

Peggy Besch, SDSF Manager, is hosting “Listening Sessions” on September 15 and 16. The meetings are in-person at Nordby Exhibit Hall and via Teams. Links for all the meetings are below. The sessions are open to anyone and we encourage you to participate.

The purpose of this meeting is to bring together representatives from 4‑H, FFA, and Open Class for a collaborative post–State Fair review. This session is a listening and learning opportunity to gather honest feedback, discuss species-specific successes and challenges, and identify improvements that will strengthen the exhibitors' experience, enhance operational efficiency, and support the continued growth of the State Fair’s livestock programs. You are welcome to attend via Teams or join us at the Nordby Exhibit Hall on the SD State Fairgrounds.
