🥰 As another school year comes to a close, we’re taking a moment to reflect on some of the highlights that made this year so meaningful for Colorado’s community.

One standout? Our 2026 Advocacy Day, where students + school leaders joined us to make their voices heard at the Capitol. 🏛️ We’re especially proud of the students from Animas High School who captured the experience in this incredible video: Road Trip to Democracy. 🎥🚐

ROAD TRIP TO DEMOCRACY By Lacy Ruggiero & Zoe Boespflug

Colorado’s charter school students just got a major win. Today, Governor Jared Polis signed Senate Bill 145 into law, a historic step toward leveling the playing field for the 136,000+ students enrolled in charter schools.

Thanks to this new law, when school districts go to voters for bond funding, they will now be required to meaningfully include charter schools in that process, explain in writing if a charter school’s needs are left out, and give clear, transparent information about how those decisions were made.

schools are public schools. Our families pay the same property taxes that fund these bonds. It is only fair that our students get a fair shot at the resources they deserve.

This victory belongs to everyone who testified, advocated and refused to give up. And it would not have happened without the incredible leadership of Senator Cathy Kipp, Senator Scott Bright, Representative Andy Boesenecker, and Gilchrist for Colorado, who fought hard to make this bipartisan bill a reality.

Colorado’s charter school are worth fighting for. Today proves it.

What a powerful moment, standing before these talented young graduates, reminding them that with dedication, hard work, and belief in themselves, they truly can achieve extraordinary things. The future belongs to those who show up and give it everything.
