Early colleges are small schools designed to blend high school and college into a coherent educational program. Students can earn college credit and/or take college-level courses while they are earning a high school diploma. Early College is the Community College of Aurora. By starting at the middle school level—in this case, 6th grade—and providing extensive support, the Early College ensures that all students are ready for college-level courses.

Congratulations to our Class of 2026 seniors, Heidi Gutierrez and Ankita Sapkota for being awarded the Sean “Ranch” Lough Foundation Scholarship to Colorado State University for their academic excellence, extracurricular involvement, including with Minds Matter Colorado, and their inspiring personal stories.

The Sean “Ranch” Lough Foundation Scholarship was created in memory of Sean “Ranch” Lough by his dear friends after his tragic passing at the age of 29. In honoring Sean “Ranch” Lough, the foundation’s website states, “One of his greatest attributes was his ability to live every day to its fullest and have a good time, while focusing on accomplishing the high goals he set for himself.” We know Heidi and Ankita will proudly honor his legacy, while creating their own. Congratulations Heidi and Ankita!
