If someone says they love you—but you feel smaller every day—pay attention.
Emotional abuse isn’t just “a bad argument.” It’s a pattern of control using shaming, constant criticism, blame, manipulation, and gaslighting to make you doubt yourself and rely on them.
It often starts subtly: jealousy framed as “caring,” checking your phone “for reassurance,” or pressuring you to spend less time with friends. Over time, it can grow into isolation, threats, and coercive control—and in some cases, it can escalate into physical violence.
Help and healing are possible 💜 Building a safety plan and connecting with supportive advocates can make leaving safer and help you rebuild your confidence and independence.
What’s one sign you wish more people understood about emotional abuse? 👇

Since 2013, our annual Chili In The City event has been something special — and this year was no different.
Every year, we come together with one mission in mind: to pour into our community the same way it pours into us. And each year, it gets more beautiful, more meaningful, and more full of love.
To our donors — thank you for believing in this event year after year. Your generosity keeps it alive, growing, and reaching further than we ever imagined.
To our volunteers — you are the heartbeat of Give Back. You show up with time, energy, smiles, and a spirit of service that truly makes this event possible.
And to our chili makers — the flavor, the fun, and delicious goodness you bring joy to the bowls and to the people.
From 2013 to now, we’ve shared countless meals, moments, and memories — and we’re grateful for every single person who’s been a part of this journey. Here’s to community, to giving back, and to many more years of coming together.
A special thank you to Sistaz Speak Foundation NPO for showing up and showing out! We appreciate you ladies!
Thank you for being part of something bigger.
Our hearts are full — and so were the bowls. ✨
Same time next year!

It’s nice to see that Henry Ford Hospital has these cards in the restrooms. 💜
At My Sisters Keeper Domestic Violence Organization, we believe that love should never hurt and home should always be a safe place. Domestic violence affects too many within our own communities — our friends, neighbors, coworkers, and loved ones. Nearly 1 in 4 women and 1 in 9 men experience severe intimate partner violence, yet many suffer in silence. Together, we can break that silence. By raising awareness, standing with survivors, and providing education and resources, we are building a community rooted in safety, healing, and empowerment. 💜 Let’s continue to be our sisters’ keepers — lifting one another up and breaking the cycle of abuse.
