PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT
October 29, 2026
Fuel Concern at Exxon Station in North Dinwiddie

Dinwiddie County is sharing the following information to alert residents who may have purchased potentially contaminated fuel at the Exxon station located at 5420 Boydton Plank Road in Dinwiddie County.

The Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (VDACS) has launched an investigation following more than a dozen reports of problems associated with fuel purchased at the station. A state investigator visited the location and stopped the sale of fuel at pumps 7 through 12 while the investigation continues.

WHO MAY BE AFFECTED?

Customers who purchased fuel from pumps 7 through 12 between 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 18, 2026, and 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 19, 2026, may have been affected.

WHAT SHOULD YOU DO IF YOU PURCHASED FUEL DURING THIS TIME?

• If your vehicle began experiencing problems after refueling, avoid driving it until it can be safely evaluated by a qualified mechanic.
• Keep your fuel receipt, if available, and document any vehicle issues, repair estimates, and repair expenses.
• If you believe your vehicle has been affected, contact the station management and a qualified automotive service professional for guidance.
• For insurance documentation, take your fuel receipt and any related repair receipts directly to the Exxon station manager.

Drivers experiencing issues with fuel pricing or purchasing can contact the VDACS Office of Weights and Measures at 804-786-2476.

The statewide investigation is ongoing. VDACS is working to determine what was in the affected tank and how the fuel was delivered. The cause and extent of the issue have not yet been confirmed.
