Dodge City and the surrounding area are currently under a Flash Flood Warning. Due to the potential for rapidly rising water and dangerous roadway conditions, the public is strongly encouraged to avoid unnecessary travel at this time. Please stay away from low-lying areas, drainage areas, and roadways where water can accumulate quickly. Never attempt to drive or walk through flooded roadways. Conditions can change rapidly, and water may be deeper or moving faster than it appears.

Please continue to monitor local weather updates and emergency notifications and use caution until conditions improve.

Today, we honor the lives lost, the heroes who served, and the strength of a nation that came together on September 11, 2001.

Each year, YMCA member and local firefighter Matt Johnson honors those who made the ultimate sacrifice by completing the 9/11 Stair Climber Challenge.

Today, Matt completed the challenge in 39 minutes while wearing approximately 100 lbs. of firefighter equipment.

The 9/11 Stair Climb challenges participants to climb the equivalent of 110 stories, the height of the World Trade Center towers, in remembrance of the firefighters who made that climb on September 11, 2001.

Matt, thank you for carrying their memory with you, and thank you to all of the first responders who continue to serve our community.
