🚨 PUBLIC SAFETY ALERT: MULCH FIRE

DCFD is monitoring a large mulch fire that began last night. The fire remains contained; however, it continues to produce significant smoke that may affect roadway visibility in the Chapel Hill Road / Hwy 166 area, especially west of Chapel Hill Road.

⚠️ Motorists are urged to use caution when traveling through the area. Reduce speed, increase following distance, and be alert for changing visibility conditions.

Please remain aware of your surroundings and allow extra travel time if traveling in the affected area.

We appreciate the public’s patience as crews continue to monitor the situation.

🚒 Battalion 1/A personnel worked on vehicle stabilization and extrication as part of their Probationary Task Book training under the instruction of Lt. Burton.

Hands-on training like this builds the skills, teamwork, and confidence needed to safely access and remove patients during vehicle emergencies. Thank you to all of the instructors who shared their knowledge and helped further prepare our personnel to serve our community!
