Fire danger is currently EXTREMELY HIGH. Even small fires can spread quickly and become dangerous under current conditions.
Several members of the Clifton Fire Department - Duluth Township are currently responding to the Stewart Trail Fire. Please help do your part to reduce the risk of additional fires in our area.
Before considering any outdoor burning, always check the Minnesota DNR fire rating and restrictions page:

Hwy 61 Construction Projects – Summer 2026
The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) has announced two upcoming construction projects along Hwy 61 that will impact residents and travel in the area.
Hwy 61 at McQuade Road (2026)
This project will construct a Reduced Conflict Intersection (RCI) at McQuade Road. RCIs are designed to improve safety by limiting high-risk turning movements and reducing crash potential.
Motorists should expect:
• Changes to traffic patterns
• Possible lane restrictions and delays during construction
London Road (Hwy 61 in Duluth) – 2026–2027
This multi-year project will reconstruct London Road from 26th Avenue East to 60th Avenue East.
Project elements include:
• Road resurfacing
• Construction of roundabouts at select intersections
• Pedestrian safety improvements (crossings, refuge islands)
• Bicycle accommodations
• Drainage and roadway upgrades
Construction is anticipated to begin in spring 2026 and continue through fall 2027. (WDIO.com)
What This Means for Residents
Both projects are intended to improve long-term safety and mobility along the Hwy 61 corridor. However, residents should anticipate:
• Temporary traffic delays
• Detours or lane shifts
• Increased construction activity
We encourage residents to plan ahead and stay informed as updates become available.
