Last night, East Dover firefighters attended a drill with the West River Training Group. Jamaica Fire and Rescue hosted training on chimney fires and firefighter self rescue.

With fall coming up and many people starting their wood stoves, this is a great reminder to get your chimney cleaned and inspected!

Thank you to everyone who attended our annual Open House on Saturday! We also would like to invite our community to the Annual Trustees Meeting at 7 PM today. It’s an opportunity for our neighbors to get involved and direct the future of their fire department.

Our thoughts are with our mutual aid partners at Deerfield Valley Rescue during this time. Aaron responded to many medical emergencies in East Dover over the years and his presence will be missed.

Today marks the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks on the United States—a day that we shall never forget.

On that day, our nation lost 343 firefighters, 71 law enforcement officers, and thousands of civilians.

Today, we stand in tribute to honor all those who lost their lives, the families and loved ones they left behind, and the first responders and survivors who continue to fight the lasting effects of the attacks 25 years later.

We remember their courage. We honor their sacrifice. We will never forget.

September 11, 2001 — Never Forget.
