The Lehigh Valley Community Foundation has announced the recipients of Good Neighbor Fund grants for 2026 to help households across eastern and central Pennsylvania manage rising home energy costs. The Good Neighbor Fund was created to help address the increasing burden of utility costs on households throughout PPL Electric Utilities’ service territory. Through partnerships with trusted nonprofit organizations already serving their communities, the program helps ensure support reaches households quickly and efficiently.

ProJeCt is one of sixteen nonprofits selected to receive a grant in the coming weeks. “Families across our region continue to face difficult financial decisions as energy and household costs remain high,” said Megan Briggs, Vice President of Community Investments at the Lehigh Valley Community Foundation. “These grants strengthen the capacity of local nonprofits that are already deeply connected to their communities and able to respond quickly when households need support the most.”

Obituary information for Rabbi Norton D. Shargel 06/01/2026

ProJeCt of Easton is deeply saddened by the passing of Rabbi Norton Shargel, one of the founders of ProJeCt. Rabbi Shargel served as the spiritual leader of Congregation B'nai Abraham in Easton from 1961 to 1970. In 1968, he joined with Protestant and Catholic clergy in the city to help establish ProJeCt, creating a collaborative community effort dedicated to helping people help themselves. Rabbi Shargel relocated to Harrison, New York in 1970, but his vision, compassion, and commitment to serving others helped lay the foundation for an organization that continues to transform lives today.

Rabbi Shargel's legacy lives on through ProJeCt's ongoing efforts to empower adult learners, support children's educational success, and provide critical assistance to neighbors facing hardship. The values and spirit he brought to ProJeCt remain at the heart of our mission, and his impact will be felt for generations to come.

The Rotary Club of Easton, Pennsylvania held its "Pack the Purse" service project this month, and we couldn't be more grateful to be among the recipient agencies this year.

Club members gathered at the Pomfret Club and filled 90 gently-used purses with healthcare items, goodies, and gift cards to distribute to local charities. Club Members also included a note of encouragement in each bag.

This thoughtful project provided a wonderful boost for ProJeCt students. Thank you, Rotarians, for all you do for the Easton community!
