The other day you got to see our firefighters in action. Tonight we're giving you a little look behind the scenes. Our engineers spent the evening sharpening their skills and getting hands-on with our new air cascade filling station.

You may be wondering, what does an engineer do? Our engineers are responsible for safely driving our apparatus to and from emergencies. Once on scene, they run the pumps and equipment that keep water and air flowing to the crews working the call.

This new system keeps our SCBA bottles filled and ready, so our crews have the air they need when it counts. Training like this doesn't always make the headlines, but it's a big part of keeping our members safe and ready to serve Easton.

Thanks to everyone who came out tonight! 💪

Yesterday, the Easton Volunteers completed the first live burn training at our new training facility.

Crews focused their training on fire attack and search & rescue. It is an incredible benefit to have this facility where we can practice different skills and techniques with actual fire conditions.

A special thank you to the instructors who came and helped facilitate our training.

On Friday, September 11th, Easton VFD had a crew on hand to fly the American flag from Tower 61 in honor of the lives lost on 9/11 and in remembrance of the first responders who answered the call that day.

Thank you to Life Member and Engineer Bunky Spies, Firefighter Jamie Flaherty, Firefighter Jacob Abbatiello, Firefighter Andrew Sedgwick, and Lieutenant Mike Ziegler for representing EVFD.

That same evening, Warriors Hockey took on Warriors Ice Hockey at Talbot County Ice Rink for the Hockey for Heroes charity game, honoring those we lost and supporting the mission of 9/11 Day. Thanks to Media for capturing the night.

We're proud to have been part of the community coming together to honor, remember, and support on this solemn anniversary.

We will never forget. 🇺🇸

First Homes for First Responders and Teachers

🏡 Good news for Maryland's first responders and teachers: there's a state program that can make buying your first home a lot more affordable.

The Maryland Mortgage Program's first responder and teacher initiative offers a competitive 30-year fixed-rate first mortgage, plus a second loan worth 5% of your loan amount to help cover your down payment and closing costs. That second loan has 0% interest, requires no monthly payments, and you only pay it back when you sell, refinance, or transfer the home.

**Who qualifies?**
First-time homebuyers working full time (or moving to Maryland for a full-time job) as a:
- Firefighter, EMT, or paramedic
- Volunteer firefighter (12+ months documented)
- Police officer
- Rescue squad member
- State Fire Marshal's office member
- 9-1-1 specialist
- State-certified teacher or school counselor (pre-K through 12)

You'll also need to complete an approved Homebuyer Education class and meet standard MMP requirements for income, credit, and purchase price limits.

If you serve this community as a first responder or teacher and you're thinking about buying your first home, this program is worth a look. Reach out to a participating lender to see what you qualify for.
