Happy to join my fellow Commissioners, Springfield Mayor Laufer, and the Township Committee to open Oakland Avenue Park! 🎉. Funded in part by a $416,000 Union County capital grant, this new space will host outdoor performances, including the local high school band.

Pocket parks prove that small spaces make a big difference. They bring neighbors together and draw foot traffic that helps our local businesses thrive. 🌳 Grab a coffee, bring the family, and come see what Oakland Avenue Park has to offer. We can't wait to see you there! 🎶

What a fun Halloween weekend in Union County! 🎃 I had a great time marching alongside families at the Rahway Halloween Parade with Mayor Giacobbe and the Linden Halloween Parade with Mayor Armstead. A big thank you to everyone who helped bring these parades to life, from the city staff and volunteers who planned every detail to the residents and families who lined the streets and joined the fun.

Yesterday, I joined Chairman Bodek, Commissioners Leon and Palmieri-Mouded, and UCIA Director Dr. Taylor to open Springfield Avenue Park in Berkeley Heights.

This $5.4 million UCIA project, done in partnership with Berkeley Heights, preserves 35.2 acres with new playgrounds, walking paths and trails, a walking track with a pavilion, and two ADA-accessible boat launches.

It's adaptive reuse at its best: an abandoned property turned into green space that supports health, recreation, and a stronger neighborhood. I hope your family enjoys it for years to come.

This weekend I attended the Township of Union's 15th Annual Chambers Mayor's Day 5K Run and was joined by my fellow elected officials, the Greater Union Chamber of Commerce members, and so many residents who participated in this wonderful tradition. A special shout-out to the local businesses and vendors who hosted tables and showed up for our community.

This year's proceeds will help cover hospital bills for Mr. Rodriguez, a Union resident living with paraplegia. It's a powerful reminder that when community and fitness come together, we not only lift up our health, we lift up our neighbors.

Congratulations to all the winners! Thank you to all who ran, walked, sponsored, volunteered, and cheered for such a worthy cause! 💙🏃🏾‍♀️

This weekend, I joined residents and families, along with Union Township Mayor Patricia Guerra Fraizer, members of the Township Committee, and Senator Cryan, & First Responders at the Township of Union's Annual Trunk or Treat Celebration.

Every year, I'm amazed by how the townships community turns out for this wonderful event, which gives our kids a safe and fun way to celebrate Halloween. And somehow, the costumes keep getting better and better!

Events like this remind me how important community is. When neighbors, families, and local leaders come together, our children see firsthand what it means to show up for one another. These are the teachable moments that stay with them: we're stronger together, and caring for our community is something we all share.

Earlier this week, I had the honor of presenting resolutions on behalf of the Union County Board of County Commissioners at the 2026 Good Scout Awards Dinner at Galloping Hill Caterers in Union.

Each year, Patriots' Path Council recognizes community members for service beyond self and for making Union a great place to live and work. Hearing each honoree's story reminded me how much sacrifice it takes to show up for your community consistently and intentionally. Leadership isn't for everyone, and those who answer the call deserve our applause.

This week I attended S.E.L.F. – An Elevated Sip & Paint Experience at the Union Arts Center. It was a beautiful evening of art, music, and healing. 🎨🎶 Thank you to HESTON and Dr. Carlene Barnaby for guiding us, and to Mayor Patricia Guerra-Frazier for championing art and community in Union.

In a world carrying so much, healing starts close to home: in rooms like this, with neighbors who show up for one another. When we care for ourselves and each other here in Union County, we add a little more light to the world. 💛

Today I joined Union Township Mayor Guerra-Frazier and the Township Committee at the annual Union Fire Department Open House!

Families enjoyed fire trucks, free food, games, giveaways, and firefighter presentations, along with hands-on fire prevention activities like hose training. EMTs and police officers were also on hand to meet residents.

Events like this matter. Children learn fire safety skills they'll carry for life, and families leave better prepared to protect their homes. Just as important, residents get to know the first responders who serve them, which builds the trust and familiarity that make our community stronger and safer.

Thank you to our firefighters, EMTs, and police officers for opening your doors and for all you do for Union.
