Way to go, Megan! Thank you for sharing your passion with fifth-grade students.

From Sunrise Elementary to Pacific Ballroom Dance - EHS Senior: Megan Henderson’s Full-Circle Journey

Eight years ago, Megan Henderson was a fifth grader at Sunrise Elementary School participating in the school’s Dancing Classrooms program. After being selected to compete in Colors of the Rainbow alongside her classmates, Megan discovered a passion that would shape the next eight years of her life.

That experience sparked Megan’s journey into competitive ballroom dancing, leading her to become a dedicated member of Pacific Ballroom Dance, where she has spent years developing her skills and competing at a high level.

Now a Senior doing Running Start, Megan recently returned to her former elementary school in a full-circle moment, this time as a dance professional participating in the Dancing Classrooms buddy visit. She had the opportunity to demonstrate ballroom dances for the current fifth graders and inspire them as they begin their own ballroom dance journeys.

What began as a fifth-grade introduction to ballroom dance has grown into an eight-year passion, bringing Megan back to the very classroom where it all started. Her story is a wonderful example of how a school experience can spark a lifelong passion and how students can one day return to inspire the next generation.

Check out this video of Megan in her 5th Grade Colors of the Rainbow competition, and last week as she demonstrated the dances for our current 5th graders:

What a fantastic week across Enumclaw School District!

It’s Homecoming Week, and we kicked it off on Monday with the EHS Coronation. Congratulations to our entire Homecoming Court!

Moving to our youngest learners at the Birth to Five Center, who put on their engineer caps for STEAM Friday! Led by Ms. Breidenbach and Ms. Cupp, students explored tree structures while building fine motor skills, collaboration, and resilience.

It’s National School Bus Safety Week! A huge thank you to our dedicated transportation team. Superintendent Mark Wenzel tagged along with Bus 47 driver Kyrie Patino to see her pre-trip safety checks and emergency drills in action. If you are interested in joining us as a bus driver, apply at https://enumclawjobs.hrmplus.net/

Special recognition to the Southwood Elementary PTO! Thank you for all you do to make our school community better every day.

In 1948, before we were known as the Hornets, the Tigers held the second annual Homecoming celebration. Instead of the parade we know and love, they kicked off the festivities with a "Command Performance" assembly featuring hilarious class skits. That evening, the Tigers charged to a dominant 20–7 victory over the Lake Washington Kangaroos on the football field.

Do you have family who attended E.H.S. back in the late '40s?

Join us this afternoon at the Homecoming Parade on Cole Street and tonight for the game at Pete's Pool Stadium!
