🕷️ Ok, don’t freak out yet… but have you really looked at a spider web up close? 🕸️

Yeah, we know, spiders = major ew. But their web? It’s a legit masterpiece. Like, how do they even make that? The delicacy of their web, intricately spun, and the way they effortlessly stand on the tiniest edge of their legs is truly fascinating. And let’s not forget how quickly they can scamper across the web—totally impressive, right?

Ok, now you can say it... "Ewwwwww!" 🙃

Fairfax County is home to wildlife that may not be as fond of tricks and treats as you are. You can help ensure our wildlife (and pets) stay safe this Halloween by following these tips:

🎃 Candy and wrappers can be a hazard for animals. Don’t leave candy out where wildlife may find it, and dispose of all candy wrappers properly.
🎃 Carved pumpkins may be attractive to wildlife as food, so properly dispose of them if you don’t want post-holiday trick-or-treaters.
🎃 Be alert for nocturnal wildlife while trick-or-treating. Avoid cutting across lawns and brushy areas to avoid accidental encounters with your nocturnal neighbors.
🎃 Be aware of wildlife that may be scared out of hiding by all the unusual nighttime activity.
🎃 Consider not using fake spiderweb décor outdoors; birds and small animals could get trapped in them.

🌿💚 Celebrating 20 Years of Stewardship!
FCPA’s Invasive Plant Management Program team and volunteers came together at Lake Accotink Park this past weekend to mark the 20th Anniversary of the Invasive Management Area Volunteer Program (IMA). The day was filled with purpose, connection, and care — a beautiful reminder of how powerful it is when people unite to nurture the environment we all share. 🌱
A huge shoutout to everyone who rolled up their sleeves to clear invasive weeds from a native plant installation. With every pull and every patch restored, IMA volunteers gave native plants room to breathe, grow, and flourish once again.
Here’s to 20 years of impact, community, and healing our natural spaces — and many more to come! 💚
