The Drama, Film, Music (DFM) section of the Fine Arts Club, in conjunction with the History section, attended a remarkable readers' theater performance of "Prairie Voices" at Touchmark on Oct. 19th. DFM member Jean Waldera arranged material and added events to North Dakota's Centennial performance in 1989 of "Centennial Voices" based on letters of Dakota settlers. Jean recruited three fellow Touchmark residents - Roald Lund, Jan Kloster (a Fine Arts Club Book section member), and Bill Dittmore - along with Touchmark staff member, Brooke Kannas, to be readers and she directed them in the readings.

The Garden Section of the Fine Arts Club met at Virginia Dambach's home to make garden totems out of various glass items such as plates, vases, and figurines. Many unique garden totems were made by garden members. In addition, Virginia shared with the group the beautiful quilt she made for the recently held Metro Quilt Expo. Virginia won the Best in Show for small quilts which she made of her brother's West Point uniform and other West Point memorabilia. The quilt is amazing and a great tribute to her brother!

The Fine Arts Club held a membership gala on August 20th. The theme was a celebration of America's 250th anniversary following the adoption of the Declaration of Independence in 1776. The decorations and the music reflected that theme, with Gwen Rust, soloist, and Sharon Mund, pianist, leading the group in singing the official songs of each military unit of the US. Each section of the Club also had a display to share with potential new members the wide variety of activities available to members.
