Some calls leave a lasting impact, and some connections go far beyond the emergency.

Firefighter/Paramedic Eric VanMeter was surprised with a special visit from a young boy and his family. Eric had previously responded to a call involving a young boy named Graham, and this time, the family returned to reunite with the firefighter who helped him and crews that all did EMS training with the family.

Graham came back to celebrate his 4th birthday with Eric and firefighters who are always ready to respond when they have been needed. 🎉🎈

Moments like these remind us that our job is about so much more than responding to emergencies. It’s about the people we serve, the connections we make, and the lasting relationships that can come from a single call.

Thank you to this wonderful family for taking the time to come back and share such a special moment with us. Happy 4th birthday to our young friend Graham. We look forward to seeing you on a firetruck again! ❤️🚒

Earlier this week, our crews responded to a tractor-trailer fire on I-75 North near the Mall Road exit. The tractor-trailer was hauling a load of hams.

The incident required the interstate to be closed for several hours to allow crews to extinguish the fire and complete the necessary cleanup operations.

We appreciate the patience of motorists who experienced delays while emergency crews worked to safely resolve the incident. Thank you to all personnel involved in the response for their hard work and dedication.

Please remember to slow down and move over when approaching emergency scenes. Stay safe!

Yesterday C-shift responded to two structure fire calls. One was for report of fire in the kitchen of a business and the other for a report of a shed on fire extending to the surrounding vegetation. Crews worked fast to extinguish the fires quickly. No injuries were reported at either incident. Job well done C-shift!

LIVE FIRE TRAINING!! Yesterday our new hire class put practice into action. Each week of orientation our candidates progress on skills and we demonstrate them in a live Burn. Every week the scenarios compound the previous trainings and grow more demanding as they progress. This also gives us a chance to let newer officers/candidates get reps in leading a crew. Building good habits to make us all more successful. Keep at it, you're doing great!
