A Message of Thanks and the Power of Participation from the chair:
As we reflect on the time, effort, and dedication that have brought us this far, I want to extend my sincere appreciation to everyone who has participated, volunteered, attended meetings, supported our events, and helped strengthen the Wilson County Democratic Party.
Every contribution matters. Whether you have given a few hours of your time, encouraged a neighbor to get involved, shared information with friends, or worked behind the scenes, your participation makes a difference. Our progress is built on the commitment of people who believe that their voices matter and that positive change begins right here in our own communities.
To our precinct chairs, volunteers, supporters, and members, thank you for continuing to show up and answer the call. Your hard work, determination, and willingness to serve are the foundation of our organization. I especially appreciate those who continue reaching out to their communities, building relationships, and encouraging others to become involved.
I also want to express my heartfelt gratitude to the candidates from Wilson County, Jennifer JJ Dominguez and Mark Hurd, who stepped forward to run for public office in this election. Putting your name on the ballot takes courage, commitment, and a willingness to serve your community. Thank you for investing your time, sharing your ideas, meeting voters, and giving our county a voice in the electoral process. Regardless of the outcome, your willingness to step forward and participate in our democracy deserves recognition and appreciation.
Historically, we’ve been told that Wilson County is a “red” county. In reality, Wilson county is a low voting county. The candidates brought forward by the Texas Democratic Party are strong candidates who will work for all the citizens of Texas. Each of the candidates has travelled throughout their districts and Texas building strong grassroots support. They have run their campaigns on solid platforms of what they can and will do for the citizens, not on fear mongering with a few alarming phrases!
So, as Election Day approaches on November 3rd, it is time to turn our participation into action. Make a plan to vote, encourage your family and friends to cast their ballots, and help ensure that everyone who is eligible and wants to participate has the information they need. Every vote is an opportunity to make your voice heard and take part in shaping the future of our communities. From the top of the ballot with James Talarico and Gina Hinojosa thru the middle with Johnny Garcia and Holly Taylor to the end with Jennifer JJ Dominguez and Mark Hurd, every Democratic candidate is prepared to serve “We, the people”. We cannot sit this one out….Vote, Vote, Vote!
As we look ahead, I encourage everyone to remain involved, invite someone new to participate, and continue supporting the work we are doing together. Every conversation, every volunteer hour, and every effort to encourage voter participation helps strengthen our presence throughout Wilson County and Texas.
Thank you for your continued support, dedication, and belief in what we can accomplish together. I am grateful to be part of this effort with you. Let’s finish strong, make our voices heard, and get out and vote on November 3rd!
With appreciation,
Sarah Guevara
Wilson County Democratic Party Chair
