Daylight saving time ends at 2 a.m. on Sunday. This means you need to set your clock back an hour before you go to bed. It is also a good time to check the batteries in carbon monoxide/smoke detectors. And, as the Mad Hater said in Alice in Wonderland, “Yes, that's it... it's always tea-time." Our Original Spice Tea is perfect for this seasonal change with warm spices of cinnamon and cloves, black tea and orange peel. It’s also available in decaf.

Which witch’s brew do you prefer? Get out your cauldron or tea pot and brew up a Halloween drink. Perhaps it is time to try our Lapsong Souchong Pine Smoked tea or our Earl Grey Smoke with White Tips, a combination of smoked black tea, white tea and bergamot for a truly haunting blend. No matter what your favorite spooky tea is, stop by the store on Saturday during Trick or Treat on Madison Street from 12:30-2:30 for a sweet treat.

Check out our limited editions. Unlike artwork, our special seasonal teas are not numbered and signed by the artist, but they do offer an opportunity to try something new. Just like the brief colors of fall leaves, savor it just for the moment with a slice of pie. Try Sweet Potato Pie, a lightly spiced black tea with cinnamon, natural sweet potato flavor, ginger, & marigold flowers or Forest Maple Embers, a slightly smokey black tea with safflower petals and real maple syrup.

It’s apple c***r time. We have several teas and tisanes that echo the same warm fall flavors as c***r. Our Cinnamon Roasted Almond tisane is made with apple pieces, almonds, cinnamon, and beetroot to create a taste of fall while our Northern Lights Blend of white tea, cinnamon, orange peel, rose petals, almond slices, apple pieces will take the chill off at night. As the lovely fall weather continues, try one of our perfect Autumnal teas.

While orange cats are often called gingers, this is not about cats. This is all about the ginger root or rhizome (Zingiber officinale), a perennial herb native to Asia. According to Harvard Health and John Hopkins, gingerol, the natural component of ginger root, has many benefits ranging from encouraging digestion to helping to relieve nausea. It also adds fragrance and zest to food and beverages. We offer dried ginger, one of the most popular spices in the world as well as ginger in a variety of our teas including Ginger Peach Tea, an invigorating blend of ginger, sweet summer peaches and black tea. We also have Colorado Mountain Ginger Peach Jam which combines the sweetness of peaches with the bite of fresh high-quality ginger. The bold taste of ginger also goes great in autumn soups, such as butternut squash.

“In Britain, a cup of tea is the answer to every problem.
Fallen off your bicycle? Nice cup of tea.
Your house has been destroyed by a meteorite? Nice cup of tea and a biscuit.
Your entire family has been eaten by a Tyrannosaurus Rex that has travelled through a space/time portal? Nice cup of tea and a piece of cake.”
― David Walliams
If you have any of these problems (or others) in your life, try one of our best-selling teas, our Cream Assam. It is a black tea with the scent and flavor of honey vanilla and perfect with a buttered English muffin.

Ever wonder when and why traditional teapots are shaped the way they are today? Teapots didn’t exist until the Ming dynasty (1368-1644), Prior to that time, ground powdered tea was used and whisked into hot water, often in a bowl. But the teapot as we know it may have been designed for Oolong tea which was not ground. With its delicate leaves, it needed to be brewed in a pot. The round shape allowed the leaves to open up, releasing their flavor and the tip of the spout was placed higher than the water level to prevent leaks and allow the liquid tea to be poured with a minimum of leaves. The teapot also allowed tea to be shared with others as a part of hospitality for guests. Our Gohobi's hand-painted floral teapot, crafted from ceramic and bamboo, is on sale.

As the days shorten and the air is cooler, sleeping through the night comes easier. A cup of caffeine-free tea before bed can help. We have three pack of teas designed to do this. The package includes our Sweet Dreams, a blend of peppermint with lemon peel and ginger root, Nightfall, a blend of chamomile, peppermint, fennel, orange, lavender and rose petals, and Mediterranean Chamomile with chamomile, orange peel, and hibiscus. They are also available separately. Chamomile contains an antioxidant called apigenin that can help to calm a racing mind while peppermint can reduce physical tension and help to relax your muscles.
