Day 19 of with Airpower Foundation () — Happy Juneteenth! Honored to spend Juneteenth walking alongside Ms. Opal Lee's family here in Fort Worth.
Today is about unity, freedom, and celebrating the people and moments that make America strong and beautiful. As we walk together, I'm also walking with purpose — raising awareness for our Veterans and the ongoing fight against Post Traumatic Stress and Veteran su***de.

I don’t often post about political issues in a political way. But I can’t stay silent when something this personal—something that changed our lives and so many others—is being pulled into the political arena for short-sighted purposes.
This is Ainsley Blue.
She’s the best (and worst) parts of Joanna and me all rolled into one—empathetic, a little shy until she suddenly owns the entire room, a bit sassy (okay, a lot), with a strong sense of herself and an even stronger sense of others. She keeps us on our toes every single day.
What most people don’t see is the road it took to get here.
Joanna and I walked through years of uncertainty, multiple miscarriages, and the slow, painful experience of hope fading and returning again. Ainsley came into our lives after our third round of IVF—a process that is physically, emotionally, and mentally exhausting. By that point, the “what ifs” and the weight of it all were almost too much to carry.
We were blessed to adopt Kaylee and Mackenzie, and nothing will ever change the depth of our love for them. They were our little miracles who made us parents. God had a plan for them and we are so blessed he made them ours.
But anyone who has walked this road knows there are still moments where you quietly wrestle with what might have been—the chance to experience pregnancy, birth, and that part of building a family. Those aren’t regrets that diminish what we have; they’re just part of the full story.
IVF is nothing short of a miracle. If you’ve never seen what goes into it, watch the movie *Joy*. It gives a glimpse into how groundbreaking—and fragile—this process really is.
That’s why it’s so frustrating to see IVF become a political talking point.
For families like ours, this isn’t theoretical. It’s not ideological. It’s deeply personal. It’s hope when hope is running out.
Ainsley is here because of IVF. Because of science, persistence, and a lot of prayers.
And I will always stand up for families who are still on that journey.

Weeklong road trip in the books and my heart is full!
A few weeks ago, Mackenzie and I hit the road from Fort Worth to Auburn, Alabama, making Buc-ee's stops a tradition at just about every turn, plus time in Birmingham and a meaningful visit through Selma along the way. Loved having those long stretches of highway to talk about her future, her goals, and her dream of cheering alongside Aubie the Tiger one day. She spent the week in an interior design class on campus, getting a taste of college life and absolutely thriving as a “college student” in Auburn. Proud dad moment watching her chase big dreams, one design project and one road trip at a time.

Last week, I was honored to join a panel at Stonebriar Connect to talk about how North Texas and Fort Worth have truly landed on the film map and what comes next for our region’s creative economy. Thanks to long-term work by partners like the Fort Worth Film Commission (), the Dallas Film Commission (), the Texas Film Commission (), and Tarrant County College our community has been building the crew base, infrastructure, and incentives needed to support year-round production.
We also discussed the “Taylor Sheridan effect” — how his decision to bring major projects and studio investments here has shined a national spotlight on North Texas and galvanized the many producers, crew members, and local businesses who have been doing the work in this industry for years. That momentum is creating real opportunities for jobs, small businesses, and neighborhoods across our region, and I’m excited to keep working with our partners to make sure North Texas continues to grow as a film powerhouse.
