Sunday's Fire Safety tip of the day:
When charging on a plane, keep portable charging devices on the tray
table. Do not charge devices in overhead compartments and never
charge e-cigarettes or vapes on a plane. If a battery overheats or fails,
it is important for the flight crew to be able to respond quickly.

Saturday's Fire Safety Tip of the day:
Charge large items like e-bikes, scooters, and power tools
outside when possible. Do not block exits when charging. These
batteries store more energy, and fires can grow quickly if they
fail.

Today's tip of the day: Remember to stop using your device right away if the battery smells strange, is warm to the touch, makes popping noises, changes in shape or
color, or if you see smoke. If it is safe, move the device away
from anything that can catch fire. A damaged battery can
overheat and start a fire.

The Franklin Lakes Fire Department is proud to announce the arrival of our brand-new Pierce Enforcer Ladder Truck, an important investment in the safety of our community and the firefighters who serve it.

Delivered last Thursday, the new Ladder was welcomed to Franklin Lakes by Mayor Kahwaty, members of the Borough Council, Business Administrator Hart, and members of the Franklin Lakes Fire Department. The new apparatus replaces our 2005 Ladder, which has faithfully served the Borough and our surrounding communities for nearly two decades.

We extend a special thank you to Mayor Kahwaty and the Borough Council for recognizing the importance of replacing this vital piece of firefighting apparatus and for approving the investment necessary to make it possible.

We also thank the members of our Truck Committee for the countless hours of research, planning, meetings, and attention to detail that went into designing the new Ladder. Every aspect of this truck was carefully considered to meet the unique needs of Franklin Lakes while providing our firefighters with the capabilities and equipment necessary to protect our growing community for years to come.

The arrival of the new Ladder marks an exciting new chapter for the Franklin Lakes Fire Department. Over the coming weeks, our members will be training extensively on the apparatus and mounting its equipment as we prepare to place it into service.
