Change Your Clocks, Check Your Alarms ⏰🔥

As we turn our clocks back tonight, take a few minutes to check the smoke and carbon monoxide alarms in your home.

•Test each alarm to make sure it’s working.
•Replace the batteries in alarms that use replaceable batteries.
•Make sure alarms are installed in the right locations throughout your home.
•Check the manufacture date and replace smoke alarms that are 10 years old.

While you’re changing the clocks, it’s a good time to make sure your alarms are up to date too.

We hope everyone has a fun and safe night of trick-or-treating.

A few quick reminders:

-Stay visible and use flashlights or reflective gear.

-Cross streets at intersections and look both ways.

-Keep costumes clear of open flames and other heat sources.

-Drivers, slow down and watch closely for children in neighborhoods and near crossings.

-Check candy before kids dig in.

Today, we recognize the firefighters, EMTs, paramedics, law enforcement officers, dispatchers, and other emergency personnel who answer the call when people need help most.

We’re proud of the work our crews do every day, but we also know emergency response is a team effort that extends far beyond our department.

This morning, Ezekiel started his school day a little differently.

As part of a school fundraiser, he earned a ride to school aboard Rescue 201. Our crew picked him up at Station 201, gave him the full experience, and made sure he arrived in style.

We had a great time spending the morning with Ezekiel and helping make his trip to school one he’ll hopefully remember for a long time.

🎃 Extra Patrols for a Safe Halloween! 🚔

On Saturday, October 31, the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office will have additional deputies and marked patrol vehicles out during the hours shown on this flier to help protect children and families enjoying Halloween.

We are not telling families when they must trick-or-treat. These hours help explain when we will have an increased patrol presence, with deputies watching for traffic concerns and helping everyone enjoy a safe evening.

Drivers, please slow down, put away distractions, and watch closely for children crossing streets or walking near the roadway. Parents, help your little ghosts and goblins stay visible, cross safely, and remain with their group.

Let’s work together to make Halloween full of happy memories! 👻🍬

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Ainsworth family, his friends, and his brothers and sisters throughout the fire service during this difficult time.

Chris’s service to others and the impact he made throughout our fire service community will not be forgotten.
