🚔 COMMUNITY • CONNECTION • FIRST RESPONDERS 🚒

The State Center Community College District Police Department was proud to join our fellow first responders and community partners for National Night Out in Coarsegold!

Held Tuesday evening in Coarsegold, National Night Out brought families, neighbors, law enforcement, fire personnel, and other first responders together for an evening of fun, conversation, safety education, and—most importantly—building stronger relationships with the communities we serve.

Sergeant Glenn Gardner and Officer Cheekeng Yang did an outstanding job representing the State Center Community College District Police Department. They spent the evening visiting with community members, talking about SCCCD Police and the campuses we serve, and connecting with our public-safety partners throughout Madera County.

Events like National Night Out remind us that public safety is about much more than responding to calls—it’s about relationships, trust, partnerships, and being part of the community.

A big thank you to the organizers, participating first responders and community partners who helped make the evening such a success, and to everyone who stopped by to say hello to Glenn and Cheekeng!

We’re proud to serve our students, employees, campuses and surrounding communities—and equally proud of the partnerships we share with our fellow first responders throughout the Central Valley and foothill communities.

🚨 Training Together. Preparing Together. Responding Together. 🚒🚑🚓

Today, Fresno City College hosted an ICS Emergency Functional Drill, bringing together the FCC Administrative Team, faculty and staff, State Center Community College District Police Department, and our local first responder partners for an important day of emergency preparedness training.

A special thank you to Fresno Police Department, Fresno Fire Department, American Ambulance, Clovis PD and Fresno State Police for joining us. The drill provided a great opportunity for campus leadership and first responders to work side-by-side, strengthen communication, practice the Incident Command System, and build the relationships that are so important during a real emergency.

The exercise was hosted by WestCoast Consulting Group, with an outstanding team led by Craig Carter and Justin Murphy. Their experience, guidance, and realistic approach helped make the training both informative and engaging.

Days like today remind us that emergency preparedness is truly a team effort. Great collaboration, great interaction, and most importantly, stronger partnerships between our campuses and the first responders who serve our community.

Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make today’s exercise a success!

The members of SCCCD PD are proud and honored to participate in the 2026 Valley Pink Patch Fundraiser, benefiting the Marjorie E. Radin Breast Care Center at Clovis Community Medical Center.

Each October, law enforcement agencies throughout the Valley come together during Breast Cancer Awareness Month by offering special pink versions of their uniform patches. Proceeds support the Radin Breast Care Center, which provides comprehensive breast health services, including genetic testing, advanced 3D diagnostics, cancer treatment, and reconstructive surgery.

The SCCCD Police Department’s Mobile Command Vehicle (MCV) is almost ready to deploy! 🚔

Beyond serving as a mobile command post, it will support emergency response, coordination with partner agencies, search and evacuation operations, planned events, and community outreach. It will also give our team a mobile base for communications and situational awareness.

The MCV will soon visit every SCCCD campus so we can show you our new acquisition. Thank you to the Madera County Sheriff’s Office for donating the vehicle to SCCCD!

🇺🇸 SEPTEMBER 11 — WE REMEMBER 🇺🇸

Today, the State Center Community College District Police Department joined our college campuses and members of the surrounding community in several 9/11 remembrance ceremonies honoring the lives lost and the extraordinary courage displayed on September 11, 2001.

Twenty-five years later, we continue to remember the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives, including the firefighters, law enforcement officers, emergency medical personnel, military members, and ordinary citizens who demonstrated extraordinary courage in the face of unimaginable circumstances. Their sacrifice reminds us of the true meaning of service, courage, unity, and community. 🇺🇸

A special thank you to Chief Jose Flores, Lieutenant Gary Mejia, Lieutenant Antonio Route, Sergeant Robert Kifer, and Officer Christian Hill for representing SCCCD PD at today’s ceremonies. Whether standing alongside our students and employees on our campuses or joining our community partners throughout the Central Valley, it is an honor to represent our District on such an important day.

For those of us who wear the badge, September 11 carries a special meaning. We remember those who ran toward danger when others were running away, and we honor their legacy through our continued commitment to serve and protect our communities.

🏆 2026 CITIZEN AWARD RECIPIENTS 🏆

Today, the State Center Community College District Police Department was proud to recognize two outstanding members of our Fresno City College community, Coach Robert Haynes and Personal Trainer Francisco Gamboa, during the Fresno & Madera Counties Police Chiefs’ Association’s 36th Annual Citizen Awards Ceremony. This annual program recognizes citizens throughout Fresno and Madera Counties who have distinguished themselves through service or significant contributions in support of public safety and law enforcement. 👏

Coach Haynes and Mr. Gamboa were recognized for their quick response during a medical emergency involving a Fresno City College student. When the student needed immediate assistance, both men stepped in without hesitation, providing aid and assisting the student until additional emergency help could be provided. Their willingness to recognize the seriousness of the situation and immediately take action demonstrates the importance of being prepared and willing to help when every moment counts. ❤️‍🩹

Coach Haynes and Mr. Gamboa were nominated by SCCCD Chief of Police Jose G. Flores and selected by the Association for recognition. Their actions are an excellent example of the important role our faculty, staff, coaches, and community members can play during an emergency. Their willingness to step forward and help someone in need reflects the very best of our Fresno City College community. 💙

We are extremely proud to have Coach Robert Haynes and Personal Trainer Francisco Gamboa as part of the Fresno City College and State Center Community College District family. Please join us in congratulating them on receiving this distinguished 2026 Citizen Award. 🏅 Their actions remind us that public safety is truly a partnership between our police department and the community we serve. UPDATE: Construction work at Blackstone Avenue and University Avenue has concluded for the day, and the area is now clear.

🚗 Access to the Fresno City College campus from University Avenue is now OPEN.

Faculty, staff, students, and visitors may resume using University Avenue for campus access.

Please be aware that additional construction activity may occur in the area. We will continue to monitor access conditions and keep our campus community updated as changes occur.

Faculty, staff, students, and visitors should be aware of construction-related access restrictions around Fresno City College:

⛔ Blackstone Avenue & University Avenue: Access to the FCC campus at this location is CLOSED.

⚠️ Calaveras Street: Access is LIMITED to Child Development Center drop-off and pick-up only. This entrance should not be used for general campus access.

Please plan ahead, allow additional travel time, and use alternate entrances when arriving at or leaving campus.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation while construction is underway. Please drive carefully and remain alert for construction crews, traffic changes, pedestrians, and posted signage.

We will continue to monitor the construction and access conditions and provide updates as they become available.
