Today we're celebrating World Architecture Day by highlighting the buildings that give Galveston so much character 🏛️ and the man who made them happen.

Nicholas J. Clayton created a lasting legacy with his work found across the island, including homes, churches, schools, and commercial buildings. His intricate woodwork, towers, stained glass, and decorative stonework helped define Galveston's architectural identity. Clayton designed iconic buildings like Bishop's Palace, George Sealy Mansion, Old Red, and the League-Kempner House.

🤩 Galveston's architectural grandeur carries across the island like Historic Downtown, where you'll find one of the largest collections of preserved Victorian-era commercial architecture in the US or throughout our many neighborhoods featuring ornate gingerbread details and strong columns.
