The Student of the Month Program serves to recognize one student in grades PreK-1, one student in grades 2-4, and one student in grades 5-8 each month. Members of the faculty and staff nominate students based on the qualities associated with the characteristics: Unwavering, Nice, Inclusive, Tenacious, Evolving. We are pleased to announce that Hadley S., Jaxson S., and Nicki O. were chosen as the October Students of the Month.

"Hadley Strieker is a wonderful example of what it means to UNITE! She is always kind and caring toward her classmates and makes sure everyone feels included, whether they are working together during centers or playing at recess. Hadley collaborates well with others, keeps trying when things get challenging, and never gives up. Her positive attitude and bright personality bring so much joy to our classroom each day!"

"We are proud to nominate Jaxson Santel for demonstrating the UNITE characteristics, but especially nice and inclusive. From the very beginning of the school year, Jaxson has consistently shown kindness to everyone, including his classmates, paras, and teachers. He walks into school every morning with a smile that seems to never leave his face, bringing positivity to those around him. Jaxson makes a point to include everyone and helps others feel welcome and valued. I have even seen him let younger students win when playing games with them during recess, showing that having fun and making others feel good is more important to him than winning. Jaxson is also an incredibly hard worker who is always willing to go out of his way to help others. He demonstrates his kindness through thoughtful actions, even when no one is watching. For example, he has picked up paper towels left on the bathroom floor by others without seeking recognition or praise. His classmates and other teachers have quietly noticed these thoughtful acts, which speak volumes about his character. We are so proud of the example he sets for his classroom and school community!"

"Nicki is a quiet, steady presence in the classroom who leads by example. She is kind, inclusive, and always works hard to do the right thing. Nicki shows us what it means to UNITE! She is Nice to those around her, Inclusive of others, Tenacious in her efforts, and Unwavering in staying true to herself. She continues Evolving into a wonderful young lady, and we are so proud of the person she is becoming. Keep being YOU, Nicki! We are so glad you are part of our GES family!"

On Thursday morning, Kernel Nut Club representative, Nathan Graham, presented Hadley, Jaxson, and Nicki with a certificate. They also received a $25 check for their own personal use. The Kernel Nut Club will also make a $25 donation to a charity of their choice.

If you see Hadley, Jaxson, or Nicki out and about in the days to come, please let them know that Bulldog Country stands proud of them.❤️🖤

🍎⚱️ 6th grade has kicked off their study of Ancient Egypt with a hands-on mummification experiment! And what better time to do it than right around Halloween?! 🎃👻

Students are stepping into the shoes of ancient Egyptians to gain perspective and better understand their beliefs, traditions, and burial practices. They learned about the process of mummification, including removing moisture from the body, using natron to dry it out, and wrapping it in linen to preserve it for the afterlife.

Now, it’s time to WAIT while their apples dehydrate!

Stay tuned in a few weeks to see the next step in their mummification journey! 👀

🎃👻 Happy Halloween, Bulldogs!

On Thursday, our PreK students enjoyed trick-or-treating around the school! 🍬 Trick-or-treating is about more than just candy! For our 3- and 4-year-olds, it’s a fun way to practice:
🍭 Social skills and greetings
🎃 Sharing and taking turns
👻 Building confidence and independence
🍬 Following directions and practicing manners
🧡 Getting active and moving around
🦇 Making memories and building excitement for the holidays!

We love finding fun ways to learn, grow, and make memories with our littlest Bulldogs! 🐾

🎬 Lights, camera, MATH! 🎥

Our 7th graders stepped into the role of production crew members with one big goal: get their major motion picture finished on time, stay within budget, and be ready for the big premiere! ⭐

Along the way, they tackled real-world problems using all four operations with rational numbers. 🍿🎬
