THE COUNTDOWN IS ON! JUST TWO WEEKS UNTIL GETTYSBURG MAKES HISTORY AGAIN!

🏛️ Where History Comes to Life!

Just TWO WEEKS from today, Lincoln Square will begin an extraordinary transformation - from one of America's most historic and iconic town centers into the centerpiece of a national commemoration and celebration of our nation's 250th anniversary!

For one unforgettable week, Gettysburg and Adams County will take center stage as we commemorate America's past, celebrate its present, and inspire its future.

And we're doing it in truly E.P.I.C. fashion!

🇺🇸 E - EDUCATION: Bringing American history to life through immersive experiences, historical presentations, living history, and the enduring words of Abraham Lincoln.

🇺🇸 P - PRESERVATION: Honoring the people, places, sacrifices, and ideals that shaped our nation — and reaffirming our responsibility to preserve them for future generations.

🇺🇸 I - INNOVATION: Blending history with exciting new experiences, entertainment, technology, and creative programming that connect generations in ways never before imagined.

🇺🇸 C - CELEBRATION: Bringing our community and visitors together through music, festivities, patriotic traditions, and unforgettable shared experiences!

HERE'S WHAT'S COMING TO GETTYSBURG!

🇺🇸 NOVEMBER 14 — 79th ANNUAL REMEMBRANCE DAY PARADE
Our celebration begins with one of Gettysburg's most cherished traditions! The streets of historic Gettysburg will come alive with marching bands, Civil War reenactors, and patriotic pageantry as we honor the soldiers who fought and sacrificed during the American Civil War. A powerful reminder of why Gettysburg holds such a special place in our nation's history.

🎩 NOVEMBER 16th - 19th ... LINCOLN AT GETTYSBURG: SHALL NOT PERISH
Four extraordinary days of history, education, and commemoration, including a historic steam locomotive, immersive programming, special ceremonies, and the 163rd anniversary of President Abraham Lincoln's Gettysburg Address.

🎸 NOVEMBER 20 - LIVE ON LINCOLN SQUARE!
We're turning up the volume on America's 250th birthday! Join us for an electrifying evening featuring UNCLE KRACKER, Six Wh***ey Revival, and Nick Mich - right in the heart of historic Lincoln Square!

🕯️ NOVEMBER 21 - REMEMBRANCE DAY ILLUMINATION
A moving tribute honoring the soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice, illuminating the profound history and enduring legacy of Gettysburg.

This is more than a series of events. It's more than a commemoration and celebration. It's a moment in history.

Few communities have the privilege of standing at the crossroads of America's past and future quite like Gettysburg. And as our nation continues to celebrate 250 years of independence, there is no more meaningful place to reflect on the promise of America, and the responsibility we share to ensure that promise endures.

From the solemn traditions of Remembrance Day to the timeless words of Abraham Lincoln, from the arrival of a historic steam locomotive to the excitement of a live concert on Lincoln Square, Gettysburg is preparing to deliver an experience unlike any other!

The countdown has begun. The excitement is building. And history is about to come alive in Gettysburg!

November will be an amazing month in Gettysburg .... something to do and see for every interest. Make an effort to be part of this EPIC experience as we enter the waning days of America's 250 commemoration year!!

On this day, 163 years ago, the following broadside was published in Gettysburg. David Wills, local Gettysburg attorney, had the broadside printed. He was asking for proposals to remove the Union dead from the battlefield to the new cemetery. Once the winning bid was selected, the reburial effort would begin at the end of October. Wills's work was instrumental the creation and completion of the Soldiers' National Cemetery.

On November 19, 2026, we will recreate the original cemetery dedication ceremony that honored the Union dead from the Battle of Gettysburg.

This special recreation will begin at 11:30 am in the Gettysburg National Cemetery. For more information: https://ow.ly/r6px50ZPp4c

👀 We’re doing our Giving Spree homework!

Main Street Gettysburg is searching for—and following—the organizations participating in the 2026 Adams County Community Foundation Giving Spree.

Why? Because these 100 organizations are doing meaningful work in Adams County, and we want to help shine a light on all of them. All for One, and One for All! ❤️

We encourage you to do the same. Follow them. Learn about their missions. Find the causes that matter to you. And on November 5, give where your heart leads you.

Whether it’s history, education, animals, the arts, families, health, recreation, or community projects, your gift can make a difference right here at home.
