On October 22, 2026, at approximately 2:35 PM, your Glasgow volunteers were dispatched to a logging accident involving two individuals who had been injured after a tree fell on them in a wooded area. Due to the terrain and the difficulty of removing the individuals from the woods, a coordinated rescue operation was initiated.

Your Glasgow volunteers responded in Squad 74 and UTV 7. Upon arrival at the staging area, crews met with Cedar Grove VFD and KCEAA to coordinate rescue operations. Squad 74 was assigned to establish a landing zone at an area known locally as “The Playground,” where AirEvac was the first helicopter to land.

While the landing zone was being prepared, UTV 7, alongside Utility 67, entered the woods to retrieve the two patients. Both patients were successfully extricated from the scene. Airevac later landed at Blue Bell Park as the second helicopter, and both patients were airlifted from the area for further medical care.

We appreciate the teamwork and coordination between Glasgow VFD, Cedar Grove Volunteer Fire Department, Inc., KCEAA, Air Evac Lifeteam 121 - Beckley, WV, Metro 911 of Kanawha County and everyone involved in this rescue operation.

On October 15, 2026, at approximately 12:29 PM, your Glasgow volunteers were dispatched for an Assist Fire call to assist KCEAA with the retrieval of a deceased individual from a wooded area via UTV 7.

The individual had been out hunting with a friend for several hours before being found deceased in the woods.

We ask that everyone respect the privacy of those involved and refrain from speculation surrounding this incident.

We’d like to take this opportunity to ask everyone to keep those affected by this tragedy in their thoughts and prayers.
