Ladder 1 has officially been transitioned from a 1980s 50ft tele-squirt to this 100ft tower ladder. This ladder serves multiple purposes and significantly increases our capabilities protecting the community. This truck was refurbished recently and is now on the streets of the Boro!!!

Good morning Greensboro. With the situation in the Gulf brewing, we wanted to give a quick update. We could see damaging winds, flooding potential, spin-up tornadoes, and power outages. Please stay weather aware and avoid going out during the hours of this storm unless necessary. We will work closely with Greene County EMA and GEMA to keep everyone updated as the storm progresses. 🚨 EXCITING NEWS FOR GREENSBORO! 🚨

Your City of Greensboro Fire Department is now a licensed EMS agency!

What does that mean for our community?

While this does not mean we will operate or transport patients by ambulance, it does mean our firefighters can provide an increased level of emergency medical care and immediate lifesaving interventions — including Advanced Life Support (ALS) treatments when qualified personnel are available.

Becoming a licensed EMS agency has been at the forefront of Chief Smith’s goals since becoming Fire Chief in June of this year. This initiative reflects his commitment to ensuring that the citizens of Greensboro and the communities we serve receive the highest level of professional, capable, and timely emergency services possible.

This is another important step forward for our department, but it certainly will not be the last. We will continue working to expand our capabilities, improve our services, invest in our personnel, and provide a level of service that our community can be proud of.

We are extremely grateful for the continued support of our City Manager, Mayor, and City Council, whose backing has allowed us to pursue opportunities like this and continue improving the care and emergency response available within our service area.

We’re proud of where Greensboro Fire has been — and even more excited about where we’re going.

Today members from Greensboro Fire hiked Stone Mountain in memory of all the lives lost on 9-11. While 25 years may have passed, the legacy and memories will be carried on. May we never forget the ultimate sacrifice of all those who have passed away on that day and since. #343 RIP

🚨 Update: Road way back open, use caution still due to the impacts 🚨

Avoid I-20 West bound, there has been an accident in Morgan county with severe impacts to travel in the west bound lanes. Traffic is backed up currently to 130 exit, please be patient with law enforcement and other agencies directing traffic in our area.
