Families gathered at the YWCA Greensboro on Tuesday for Ready, Set, Grow: Building a Path Toward Kindergarten Readiness 📚🚌✏️🎓

Parents and children engaged in hands-on STEAM activities and took home knowledge and tips on things they can do at home to help their children be kindergarten ready!

🔬💡🤖This event was hosted in partnership with Solace Rose Innovation Academy, a tuition-free public charter school where wellness, identity, and STEAM-infused learning grow together.

✏️✂️📚We also want to give a special shout out to Ready for School, Ready for Life for presenting on The Basics and sharing the resources they offer to families preparing their infants and young children for school!

Thank you to the vendors, staff, volunteers, and attendees who made this event a success!

This conference gave these ladies the chance to share about the work the YWCA Greensboro is doing in the maternal and infant health space while learning more about how other local organizations are getting involved as well!

When girls have access to education and career pathways, they are less likely to be vulnerable to child marriage, which is only prohibited – without any exceptions – in 17 states here in the U.S.

At YWCA Greensboro, we provide young mothers in our Teen Parent Mentor Program with teen-centered support related to life skills training, educational and workforce development, and social-emotional health resources. Girls deserve every opportunity to thrive and we know without doubt: education helps to prevent exploitation.

Today is , and we’re joining YWCA USA and sister YWCAs all over the world to call attention to the fact that child marriage is still allowed in a whopping 33 states here in the U.S.

Child marriage creates barriers to the ability of girls to access education and financial stability and significantly increases the likelihood of experiencing domestic violence for children into their adulthood. This and , share this post to call attention to the problem and to remind our elected leaders that solutions are possible.
