What a way to celebrate Foster Youth Voice Month! 🙌

SaySo’s Governor’s Page Week brought together 15 young people from Onslow, Johnston, Wake, Cumberland, Forsyth, Gaston, Cleveland, and Pitt counties.

It was amazing to participate in Page Week during a month dedicated to elevating the voices and experiences of young people in foster care.

And we’re not done sharing! Keep an eye out for more moments from Page Week. 👀

SaySo celebrated Foster Youth Voice Month with a visit to the Governor's Mansion during Page Week! 🏛️✨

It was truly a special moment. We saw Governor Stein sign the proclamation and take his time speaking with SaySo youth. He listened closely, answered every question, and created space for their voices to be heard.

Thank you, Governor Stein, for being a gracious host and for demonstrating leadership in action. Thank you for declaring October Foster Youth Voice Month in North Carolina and allowing us to explore the executive mansion! đź’›

SaySo was grateful to be part of the 2026 GAL Appellate Advocacy Training!

This year's theme was Hearts in Action United in Advocacy and we enjoyed educating, encouraging and sharing perspectives. It was a great day full of rich dialogue.

🌟 Preparing Youth for the REAL WORLD! 🌟
What an incredible opportunity for our youth to experience what life after graduation can really look like! From stepping into their desired careers and learning how to manage a salary, to navigating housing, bills, insurance, car payments, groceries, and everyday expenses, they were able to experience real-life financial responsibilities firsthand.
They learned the importance of saving for the unexpected, understanding debt and credit, making smart financial decisions, and planning for the future, with the guidance of some amazing speakers and community leaders. 💰📚
Our youth also had the opportunity to select professional clothing to prepare for future jobs and interviews, while learning about the importance of making safe choices—including never drinking and driving. 👔🚗
Experiences like this give young people the confidence, knowledge, and tools they need to make informed decisions as they enter adulthood.
A huge THANK YOU to Onslow County LINKS & SaySo's local chapter for such a meaningful and eye-opening experience! ❤️
The real world is full of opportunities and challenges. Preparing our youth for both makes all the difference. 🌎✨

October is Foster Youth Voice Month, and we are honoring Christian Anderson, a SaySo member who passed earlier this month.

Christian was a true advocate. He was a Jim Casey Young Fellow, a student at Livingstone College, and collected and donated over 100 hygiene kits to support SaySo’s distribution at our upcoming Make a Difference Day event.

Today, we take a moment to celebrate his life and the legacy he leaves behind. He was wise, humorous, deeply committed to the work of advocacy, and involved with several organizations, including his own nonprofit.

He will be missed, but never forgotten. 🤍
