Last month, the Greenville Breakfast Rotary Club traded breakfast meetings for shovels and gloves, teaming up with TreesUpstate for a hands-on service project that left a lasting mark on our community.

Formerly known as TreesGreenville, TreesUpstate was founded in 2005 with a mission to plant, promote, and protect trees throughout the Upstate. Their work helps ensure our region stays green, shaded, and environmentally healthy for generations to come — a mission that aligns perfectly with Rotary's own commitment to improving our communities.

Alongside TreesUpstate, our members rolled up their sleeves to plant trees at the Greenville County Aquatic Complex (2700 West Blue Ridge Dr., Greenville, SC 29611), adding greenery to a space enjoyed by families and residents throughout the county. It was a true team effort — and even our own Past District Governor, David Brenner, was out in the field, leading by example and getting his hands dirty alongside fellow members.

Projects like these are a reminder that service doesn't always happen behind a desk or at a meeting — sometimes it happens one tree, one shovel, and one small act at a time.

On Sunday, our Greenville Breakfast Rotary team, along with more than 2,000 people took part in Greenville's Walk to End Alzheimer's, raising a record amount of money for research, support services and treatment.

The two-mile walk brought together people honoring loved ones lost to the disease and those currently affected by Alzheimer's.

More than 6 million Americans are living with this disease, and countless families are stepping up as caregivers every day. Our team is proud to walk in support of research toward a cure, and to help fund free care and education programs for families facing Alzheimer's right now. Thank you to everyone who came out to walk with us! 💜

Today's the day!

The Greenville Breakfast Rotary Club is walking to end Alzheimer's today, October 4th! 💜

We're so grateful for every donation, every kind word, and every bit of support that got us here. Today, we walk for the more than 6 million Americans living with Alzheimer's and for every family who's ever had to say goodbye to a loved one one memory at a time.

If you haven't had a chance to donate yet, it's not too late — every bit still helps: https://act.alz.org/site/TR/Walk2026/SC-SouthCarolina?pg=team&team_id=1098528&fr_id=19910

Thank you for walking alongside us, even from afar. Let's end Alzheimer's, together. 🌸
