Injury Crash

On October 20, 2026, at approximately 1:14 a.m., Darke County Sheriff's Deputies, along with emergency personnel from Pitsburg Fire, Arcanum Rescue, and Phillipsburg Rescue, responded to a report of a two-vehicle injury crash at the intersection of State Route 49 and State Route 722.
According to a preliminary investigation, a blue Ford F-150 driven by Paul Cisco, 47, of Vandalia, was traveling eastbound on SR 722 when he failed to stop at a stop sign. The F-150 entered the intersection and struck a silver Chevy Traverse traveling southbound on SR 49, driven by Ryan Spaulding, 43, of West Alexandria.
Following the collision, both vehicles traveled off the east side of SR 49. The Chevy Traverse caught fire in an adjacent field, while the Ford F-150 came to a rest in a ditch after striking a utility pole.

Darke County Sheriff's Office & DEA . . . Taking Back Unwanted Prescription Drugs

On October 24, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Darke County Sheriff’s Office, along with Darke County Family Health Main Campus, Darke County Solid Waste, and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will give the public another opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs.

Bring your medications to Darke County Family Health Pharmacy Main Campus Entrance at 5735 Meeker Rd. for disposal. The service is free and anonymous, with no questions asked! This collection is for items in pill form only. We cannot accept any creams, powders, or liquids during this collection. Please feel free to mix all your unwanted drugs in a zipper bag.

This initiative addresses a vital public safety and public health issue. Medicines that languish in home cabinets are highly susceptible to diversion, misuse, and abuse. Rates of prescription drug abuse in the U.S. are alarmingly high, as are the number of accidental poisonings and overdoses due to these drugs. Studies show that a majority of abused prescription drugs are obtained from family and friends, including from the home medicine cabinet. In addition, Americans are now advised that their usual methods for disposing of unused medicines—flushing them down the toilet or throwing them in the trash—both pose potential safety and health hazards.

The City of Greenville Police Department and the Darke County Sheriff’s Office both offer a permanent drop box for the public. This container is accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for added convenience in properly disposing of unwanted drugs.

This month, our Deputies are proudly wearing pink badges to show their support for those battling breast cancer, survivors, and the families who stand beside them. Our Dispatchers, Corrections Officers and Support Staff are also joining in by wearing cancer awareness shirts to help spread awareness and show their support.

Behind every pink badge and awareness shirt is a reminder that breast cancer affects so many lives, and together, we can make a difference through awareness, support, and hope.

A special THANK YOU to everyone who purchased a shirt through www.BlessThisRescue.com Your support means so much and helps us continue to spread awareness throughout our community.

In honor of those still fighting, in memory of those we've lost, and in celebration of those who have won their battle — we wear pink for YOU!
