Not every MVA is straightforward. Vehicles can end up on their sides, overturned, down embankments, and in positions that make it hard to access the patients.
This week's training at Northwest we worked on vehicle extrication and patient removal techniques, practicing the skills needed to stabilize vehicles, access trapped patients, and remove them in complex situations. Training on realistic scenarios helps ensure our firefighters are prepared to adapt to the unique challenges they encounter on our roadways.
Training our members translates directly to safer, more effective rescues when real emergencies occur.
Also a big shout out to C&C Pick A Part. This is the 5th time the awesome folks at C&C have taken time out of their day to provide us with vehicles to make this training possible. Thank you C&C Pick A Part!

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but we will NOT be selling Hash for Labor Day this year.

We look forward to welcoming you back for Memorial Day Hash 2027!

A huge shout-out to Skate Away Family Fun Center of Greenwood, SC for generously allowing us to use their laser tag facility for search and rescue training this evening—and for feeding our team afterward!
Training in smoke-filled conditions is a unique opportunity that can be difficult to replicate, so we take full advantage of every chance we get. We have several new members who have not yet experienced real fire conditions, and exercises like this help prepare them for what they may encounter in an actual emergency.
Our goal is to ensure that when our community needs us, we are prepared, capable, and ready to serve.
Thank you to everyone who came out tonight for your hard work, dedication, and commitment to serving our community. And again, a sincere thank you to Justin and the Skate Away team for supporting our training and mission!

Please join us in congratulating one of our own on an outstanding accomplishment.
Da'Marquise Jackson began volunteering with Northwest in 2021, and it has been a privilege to watch him grow into the dedicated volunteer and career firefighter he is today. Whether arriving at the station for training or responding to a call, DJ’s positive attitude and cheerful spirit have a way of lifting the morale of everyone around him.
We are proud to announce that DJ was awarded the 2026 South Carolina State Firefighter of the Year Award through the American Legion. Congratulations, DJ, on this well-deserved honor!

🚒 Congratulations to Bryson Rowe , our 2025 Firefighter of the Year! 🚒

Firefighter of the Year is a special honor within our department, voted on annually by our members. This year, Bryson was selected in recognition of his dedication, commitment, and service to Northwest.

Since joining the department approximately a year and a half ago, Bryson has attended nearly every training, consistently supported our community events, and earned his Firefighter II certification. His strong work ethic and passion for service truly set him apart.

Congratulations, Bryson! We are proud to have you as part of Northwest and look forward to seeing all that you accomplish in the years ahead.
