The 106.9 The Fox and FM99's 30th Mayflower Marathon Food Drive is less than a month away, and we're inviting our community to be part of this longtime holiday tradition!

Hosted by 106.9 The Fox and FM99, the Mayflower Marathon brings our community together for three days of giving to support local foodbanks and help nourish neighbors throughout the holiday season.

📍 Hampton Kroger: 1050 W. Mercury Blvd.
📍 Yorktown Kroger: 5007-2 Victory Blvd.

Dropping off donations is easy! Simply bring your nonperishable food donations to either participating Kroger location. Can't make it to a drop-off location? You can also scan the QR code on the graphic or visit the link in bio to make an online donation.

Together, we can make a difference for families and individuals throughout our community. We hope you'll join us in making this year's Mayflower Marathon a success!

Our November Mobile Food Pantry schedule is now available!

📢 PLEASE NOTE: Due to the holiday, the Coliseum distribution will take place on a different day of the week and at a different time this month. Be sure to review the November schedule before heading to a distribution!

Here's what you need to know about our drive-thru food distributions this month:
📋 For distributions that require registration, please arrive at the distribution site around the scheduled time. You will be asked to provide your name, household size, and ZIP code.

Every Thursday morning, longtime friends and Masons Donnie and Mr. Quash load up the Foodbank van with hundreds of bags of food and hit the road on their delivery route to local schools. The volunteer drivers have been helping our Childhood Nutrition team get healthy meals to kids experiencing food insecurity across the Peninsula since 2015.

“We enjoy what we do for the children. They take the food back to the families. It’s all about the kids,” said Mr. Quash.

The Food for Kids Backpack Program ensures that 1,500 students across the Peninsula have food to take home with them every weekend. For Donnie, the memories of seeing children get excited when they see their favorite foods have stuck with him over the years. “Kids really love the fresh fruit. I remember a young guy loved the grapes. I made sure he got some extra ones. That made my heart feel so light.”

Everybody plays a role in local hunger relief. We are so grateful for Donnie and Mr. Quash’s time and dedication over all these years helping children in our community get the food they need to stay healthy and come to school ready to learn.

“There’s a real need, now more than ever,” said Mr. Quash. “They really appreciate it, that’s for sure.”

A little celebration can make a big difference!

A huge thank you to the women of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Spring 16 Gamma Theta Chapter, for their generosity during their homecoming at HU!

Coming together to support our neighbors, these amazing women collected donations and assembled 50 birthday cake kits for the Virginia Peninsula Foodbank. Each kit includes everything needed to bake and decorate a cake, along with candles, balloons, and festive decorations to make the celebration extra special.

We’re so grateful for their thoughtfulness and for helping make birthdays a little brighter for the families we serve. Thank you for showing what it means to come together for our community! 💚🩷

If you or someone you know needs food assistance, check out our drive-thru distributions happening this week.

Get a FREE car wash while giving back to our community!

Tidal Wave Auto Spa is celebrating its grand opening with a Give Back Day benefiting the Virginia Peninsula Foodbank! Stop by today, Thursday, October 22, from 9 AM to 6 PM at 102 Marketplace Drive in Hampton.

Every free wash means $1 donated to the Foodbank, and every new membership sign-up means $5 donated!

Last week, employees from local Food Lion stores joined us to pack and distribute fresh fruits and vegetables for our first School Produce Market of the school year!

We’re incredibly grateful to the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation for its $75,000 grant supporting the Foodbank’s childhood nutrition programs. This generous support helps us provide fresh, seasonal produce to more than 300 families every month.

In addition to our School Produce Markets, our childhood nutrition programs provide 1,500 bags of food each week for students to take home over the weekend, along with daily hot suppers at after-school programs. These programs help ensure children have the nourishment they need to learn, grow, and simply be kids.

Thank you to our friends at Food Lion for your continued partnership and commitment to helping children and families in our community thrive!

A big thank you to 1st Advantage Federal Credit Union for including the Virginia Peninsula Foodbank in their annual 1A Community Day!

Last week, their team helped bag fresh produce for our neighbors and generously donated $500 to support our mission.

We’re grateful for 1st Advantage’s longstanding partnership and continued commitment to our community. Thank you for continuing to show up for our neighbors and making the Foodbank part of this annual tradition!
