Children are victims too it’s an unspoken truth. The most heartbreaking thing is they don’t get no say so in whether a victim goes back to their abuser. They can’t just walk away, and often times end up carrying the trauma of that abuse into adulthood. At that stage they repeat a cycle they are all too familiar with. Every child should feel safe in their own home they should feel like they matter and their safety matters. Protect the children who are only innocent bystanders in the cycle of Domestic Violence.

This past week Mindy, Claudia & Maria had the pleasure of attending the Conference on Crimes Against Women Beyond the Bounds Summit held in South Padre Island! 🫆🏝️ They learned so much, gained new perspectives, and connected with other advocates & professionals who share our commitment to supporting survivors! Also caught them some much needed healing being close to Mother Nature 😌 The conferences always leave our advocates feeling more inspired and ready to serve those who need us.
Huge thank you to everyone who comes together to make these conferences possible 🩷 We are proud to continue to advocate for others, working with our partnering agencies we can go Beyond The Bounds!

“Growth without preparation can create a service gap”
For a rural crisis center the concern isn’t simply “are more assaults occurring?” It is also: Can the community respond when more people need help?
That means looking at:
1. Calls for service and shelter requests
2. Sexual-assault forensic exams and referrals
3. Protective-order assistance
4. Law-enforcement referrals
5. Hospital referrals
6. Emergency housing availability
7. Transportation distances
8. Advocate staffing
9. Bilingual and culturally responsive services
10. Funding that keeps pace with population growth
This is especially relevant in Texas because rural communities are simultaneously facing rapid economic and infrastructure development.
