It took more than a century to collect these recipes. And more than 200 volunteers to help bring them back to life.

Measurements change. Ingredients change. Ovens change. Sometimes instructions simply aren't there.

So before the recipes in The Hermitage Baking Book could reach your kitchen, they had to be baked, interpreted, compared and tested.

💞A very special thank you to the more than 200 volunteers signed up to help.

The result is a collection rooted in The Hermitage archives and made to be baked again. Bring Hermitage history into your kitchen.

🏡 One House. Two Remarkable Eras.

The Hermitage began as a colonial homestead, but in 1846–1847, Elijah Rosencrantz Jr. transformed it into a striking Gothic Revival cottage with architect William Ranlett.

Today, the house brings together two distinct chapters of American design: the understated simplicity of colonial New Jersey and the dramatic romance of the Victorian era.

Which architectural style would you choose: Colonial or Gothic Revival?

Tea Was Social Media Before Social Media ☕🌿🌸

Before text messages, Facebook, and group chats, people gathered around a beautifully set table.

Afternoon tea became one of the Victorian era's favorite ways to socialize, share news, and connect with friends.

At The Hermitage's Tablescaping, Rosencrantz Style, you'll discover how historic entertaining inspired conversation, creativity, and hospitality.
