To our customers:
Each year, all government organizations must submit documentation to the State Auditor's Office to show all financial activities. Further, each organization must participate in a comprehensive 'live' audit to review not only financial statements, but all administrative activities to ensure we are complying with Washington State Law and managing hard-earned taxpayer funds. The audits closely look at many different aspects of spending and policy.
Klickitat County Fire District 3 was recently audited to look at things such as: payroll and compliance, Visa card transactions, receipt documentation, commissioner activities to comply with Washington Open Public Meetings Act and more.
We PROUDLY ANNOUNCE:
Due to the hard work of our staff, Commissioners, and all members of our organization, we passed another audit without any findings of fault, misrepresentation or poor accountability. Our documentation was in order and we are meeting the transparent mission of providing fire suppression and EMS services to our citizens. We look forward to the detail of these audits which require us to account for even the smallest of dollars and pennies in an ongoing manner.

Why is Klickitat FD 3 still in existence? When our voters approved formation of West Klickitat Regional Fire Authority with the City of White Salmon Fire Department, remained is our Capital Improvement Bond approved by our voters in 2018. Those funds were to rebuild two fire stations and purchase some capital equipment. We are proud to note, in that project, we ended well under budget and was able to accomplish more bang for the buck than anticipated. Once that Bond has been repaid to zero, KCFD3 will ultimately be dissolved as of 2037.
West Klickitat Regional Fire Authority is a newer entity under three years old, but online audit reports have already been submitted without issue. We will be receiving a "live" audit by the WSAO in 2027.
We value our transparency and always have. Board meeting minutes and agendas can be found by going to our website: www.westklickitatfire.gov
Thank you for letting us serve you! We welcome questions and encourage our citizens to be informed of what it takes to deliver our much needed services. While the doors may be down, we are always working hard for you.
