🇺🇸 Indiana History is never far from U.S. 40!

🏀 Visit the Hoosier Gym in Knightstown, the filming location of the classic 1986 “Hoosiers” movie! Located just a few blocks north of U.S. 40, it’s a must-see stop for basketball fans. It remains an active gym today and has kept its same look for 40 years.

🚗 If you’re looking for some more history, head west to Terre Haute, where the original Crossroads of America marks the intersection of U.S. 40 and U.S. 41. This location plays an important role in the development of Indiana’s transportation and helped shape the city we know today.

Whether you’re exploring Indiana basketball history or traveling through the well-known intersection, Central Indiana has lots of history to be discovered! 🔍💡

As we welcome travelers into Indiana to celebrate America's 250th birthday, we'd like to highlight some of the historical destinations you can check out in each region of the Hoosier state!

Northern Indiana is home to a couple of unique locations that have deep historical roots.

In Goshen, you can find one of northeast Indiana's most recognizable landmarks, the Goshen Police Booth. It was installed in the 1930's due to security concerns, and is located along the Lincoln Highway, between New York City and Chicago.

In northwest Indiana, you can find over 20,000 acres of natural areas that are home to nearly 90 threatened and endangered species at Kankakee Sands! You can also check out the area's fish and wildlife area!
