Lt. Col. Tami Ekstrand Promoted, Continues Mission to Inspire Minnesota's Future Leaders Through Civic Engagement!

Congratulations to Lt. Col. Tami Ekstrand, who was promoted during the Minnesota Wing Staff Meeting on October 5. The promotion was presented by North Central Region Commander Col. Thomas Theis, recognizing Lt. Col. Ekstrand's outstanding leadership, dedication, and service to Civil Air Patrol.

As commander of the Minnesota Wing Legislative Squadron, Lt. Col. Ekstrand is helping build bridges between Civil Air Patrol and government leaders while creating unique opportunities for cadets to learn about civic engagement, public service, and leadership.

One of the most impactful opportunities available to Minnesota Wing cadets is participation in National Legislative Day in Washington, D.C. Each year, a select group of cadets has the opportunity to experience our nation's government firsthand by meeting with Senators and Representatives, touring the U.S. Capitol, exploring the White House, visiting the Pentagon, honoring our nation's heroes at Arlington National Cemetery, and experiencing the Smithsonian Museums.

These experiences go far beyond sightseeing. They help inspire young leaders to understand how government works, explore careers in public service, and develop the confidence and leadership skills needed to make a difference in their communities and our nation.

Lt. Col. Ekstrand's promotion reflects not only her accomplishments, but also her commitment to developing the next generation of leaders through meaningful educational and civic engagement opportunities.

Please join us in congratulating Lt. Col. Tami Ekstrand on this well-deserved promotion and wishing her continued success as she leads the Minnesota Wing Legislative Squadron into the future.

🇺🇸 🇺🇸 Honoring Those Who Served 🇺🇸
The mission of the Honor Flight Network is "to celebrate America's Veterans by inviting them to share in a day of honor at our nation's memorials." Their vision is "a nation where all of America's Veterans experience the honor, gratitude, and community of support they deserve."

Members of the Minnesota Wing Civil Air Patrol recently had the privilege of helping bring that mission and vision to life by welcoming Honor Flight veterans home after their day in Washington, D.C.

As the veterans arrived through the airport gates, they were greeted by cheering supporters, waving American flags, heartfelt signs, and a corridor of gratitude stretching through the terminal.

Civil Air Patrol cadets and senior members stood alongside family members, friends, and community supporters to applaud these heroes as they returned home.

For many veterans, this welcome home is more than a celebration. It is a powerful reminder that their service and sacrifice have not been forgotten. Seeing the smiles, handshakes, and expressions of appreciation made this a meaningful experience for everyone involved.

The Minnesota Wing Civil Air Patrol is honored to support our nation's veterans and grateful for the opportunity to participate in such a memorable event.

Thank you to all who served. Welcome home, and welcome home well deserved. 🇺🇸✈️
