Public dollars at work for our community!
Work is underway this week on improvements to our downtown and river recreation area.
The City received a $500,000 Downtown Revitalization grant through the Texas Department of Agriculture to support new sidewalks, street resurfacing, and drainage improvements downtown. This investment of taxpayer dollars will help improve the streets and sidewalks residents and visitors use every day.
We’re also working with the Sabine River Authority, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, and federal partners on improvements to the riverboat ramp area on the Texas side. The project includes a pavilion, kayak launch, picnic tables, and more parking. These additions will give families more opportunities to enjoy time at the river. The City will maintain the improved recreation area.
The City thanks our current administration and council members for helping finalize these grants and move these projects forward. We also thank previous administrations, council members, and public servants whose work began the process and laid the groundwork for these improvements. These projects reflect years of public service and a shared commitment to our community.
These public grant investments will strengthen our downtown and improve access to outdoor recreation for our community.
