Hardin County, Texas Veterans Service Advocate for Hardin County Veterans, as you attempt to secure benefits, rightfully earned in exchange Texas Veterans are a unique breed. My name is Kristen H.

From those who fought for the freedom of Texas at the Alamo and San Jacinto, to those who fought for the freedom of the world at Iwo Jima, Normandy, Iraq and Afghanistan, they have earned our respect and thanks. They have earned the blessings of peace and comfort in their late years and years to come. White. As the Hardin County Veterans Service Officer, I will work to ensure that our local veterans attempt to secure the benefits they rightfully deserve, in exchange for their services to our country and our freedom. 🇺🇸 **VETERANS, DID YOU KNOW?**

There may be medical equipment and supportive devices available to you through **VA Healthcare** that you didn't even know you could ask about!

From TENS units for pain management to sleep-related devices and other supportive equipment, VA Healthcare may be able to help.

✅ **Where do you start?**

Talk with your VA Primary Care Provider (P*P)! Explain your medical needs and ask whether a referral, prescription, or consultation with a specialty clinic would be appropriate.

⚠️ **IMPORTANT:** Not every item pictured is a standard or guaranteed VA benefit. Availability depends on medical necessity, clinical approval, VA policies, and the equipment offered through your VA facility.

You don't have to be rated 100% service-connected to qualify for medically necessary equipment through VA Healthcare.

**My advice? ASK QUESTIONS!** You may have options available that you weren't aware of.

🇺🇸 **CHAMPVA Eligibility – Know the Facts!**

CHAMPVA provides health coverage for eligible spouses and dependent children of veterans.

✅ **100% Permanent & Total (P&T)** – Dependents may qualify.

✅ **TDIU with P&T status** – Dependents may qualify.

❌ **100% without P&T** – Generally does NOT qualify.

✅ **Surviving spouses and dependents** may qualify if the veteran passed away from a service-connected disability or was rated P&T at the time of death.

⚠️ **Important:** Dependents eligible for TRICARE are not eligible for CHAMPVA.

**Remember: Being rated 100% and being rated 100% Permanent & Total are NOT the same thing!**
